John James Life

John James Anderson (born April 18, 1956) is an American actor and producer best known for his role in both the prime-time soap opera Dynamo and its spin-off series The Colbys from the 1980s.

Personal life

James was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, as one of three children of radio broadcaster Herb Oscar Anderson (1928-2017) and his first wife. Herb Oscar Anderson II, the actor's brother, is a comedian.

Denise Ellen Coward, a model and second runner-up for Miss World 1978, married James in 1989. They have two children. Laura, James' niece, was named America's Next Top Model, Cycle 19. Phillip's son is currently serving in the United States Air Force.

James is considered a Republican candidate for New York's 21st congressional district in 2014.

Career

James is a veteran of daytime soaps, first appearing in Search for Tomorrow in the late 1970s. In 1981, he won the role of Jeff Colby in Dynasty, appearing in the very first episode of "Oil" and remaining on the soap opera until Catch 22 in 1989. James appeared in The Colbys from 1985 to 1987, as well as one time in the 1991 TV movie Dynasty: The Reunion.

In 1985, James was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for his work in Dynasty, and he attended the 1986 inaugural service. Edward James Olmos was given the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor – Series, Miniseries, or Television Film.

In 2003–2004, James returned to the role of As the World Turns as the protagonist, playing Rick Decker. On ABC daytime soap opera All My Children, he appeared in the role of Dr. Jeff Martin (the first husband of Erica Kane, played by series actor Susan Lucci). He debuted the following month. On July 15, 2008, James returned to As the World Turns, reprising the role of defunct Dr. Rick Decker.

James appeared in Icebreaker, Bruce Campbell, and Stacy Keach, a film directed by David Giancola.

Illegal Aliens was produced and starred in Illegal Aliens (2007). In 2012, James appeared in Addicted to Fame (2012), a Giancola documentary about the making of their film Illegal Aliens.
