Early life
Hannah was born in East Kilbride, Lanarkshire, as the youngest of three children; he has two older sisters. Susan, Susan's mother, was a cleaner at Marks & Spencer, and John, a toolmaker, was a cleaner. He began at Heathery Knowe Primary School, then Claremont High School in East Kilbride, and went on to an apprenticeship as an electrician. He performed in East Kilbride Rep Theatre Club. After finishing his apprenticeship, he then attended the prestigious Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, at the suggestion of a colleague.
Personal life

He has played a psychopathic killer in Truth or Dare and a mystery-solving pathologist in McCallum since his debut in this role. In Sliding Doors (1998), he was a karaoke-mad deadbeat dad in The James Gang, the alcoholic, pilfering, but endearing, lovable come-relief brother of the female lead in The Mummy (1999), and The Mummy Returns (1999). Hannah appeared in the canceled U.S. series MDs (2004), Carnivàle (2002), and Frasier (2003). He appeared in the drama film New Street Law in 2006. He appeared in the ITV crime drama Cold Blood from 2007 to 2008.
