www.dailymail.co.uk, February 7, 2024
In Lady Bird Lake, Texas, a body was discovered, killing at least five others in the last year. Around 1.30 p.m. on Monday, the body was discovered, but no information was given about the victim's name, gender, or cause or manner of death. The body was the sixth to be pulled from the lake after January 2023. So far, all of the five guys have been men, with only four of the five having their IDs revealed. In 2022, four additional unidentified bodies were discovered on the lake, but their investigations were suspended, according to the news outlet.

Cops take a bullet-riddled vehicle from Lady Bird Lake, where eight men's bodies were discovered

www.dailymail.co.uk, May 2, 2023
A car with bullet holes was pulled from Lady Bird Lake, Texas' same area of water, where the bodies of at least eight men have been discovered in the last year. When it was heaved onto land early Monday morning, no one was inside, according to Austin police. Around 2 a.m., police responded to reports of a shooting near the Festival Beach boat ramp, finding a car in the sea. A dive team returned a few hours later and pulled the bullet-riddled car from the lake. The subpoena's shooting was not confirmed by police, who did not say if it was related to the investigation of a shooting. It all happened less than three quarters of a mile from Rainey Street, a famous strip where many of the men who were pulled from the lake in the last year had never been seen.

Is there a serial killer on the loose in Austin?

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 23, 2023
Jason John, 30, Clifton Axtell, 40, Jonathan Honey, 33, and John Christopher Hays-Clark, 30, were discovered dead near Lady Bird Lake in the last two months alone. On Rainey Street, the lake is close to a popular nightlife spot. The lake is about 1.8 miles, or a 35-minute walk away from the street. There are no cameras around the lake. Lady Bird Lake Serial Killer/Rainey Street Killer, a Facebook group that promotes conspiracy theories about the deaths, has received over 70,000 followers, while a local news outlet recently ran with a headline: 'Fears of a Rainey Street Ripper.' Local police have tried to pour cold water over these allegations, even after releasing a formal statement in which they said that there was no foul play in any of the deaths. The newspaper sent a warning about responsible alcohol intake and the dangers of being near water.
