Jodi Mary Albert (born 22 July 1983) is an English actor and singer best known for playing Debbie Dean in Channel 4's soap opera Hollyoaks and as a member of the brief-lived British girl group Girl Thing and Irish girl group Wonderland.
Girl Thing will reunite for the second series of The Big Reunion in December 2013.
Early life
Albert attended the independent, fee-paying Sylvia Young Theatre School in London, where he learned with Lee Ryan, Matt Willis, Billie Piper, and Amy Winehouse. She appeared in Les Misérables at London's Palace Theatre at the age of ten.
Personal life
In Barbados, Albert married Kian Egan, a member of the Irish vocal group Westlife. The couple announced on July 31, 2011 that they were expecting their first child. On December 20, 2011, the birth of their son, Koa, was confirmed. It was revealed in November 2014 that they were expecting their second child. Eileen, the mother of her eight children, died of cancer in February 2015. Albert gave birth to her second child, Zekey, on May 21, 2015. Career
Albert was in the short-lived British-Dutch girl band Girl Thing, which had a top ten hit in the United Kingdom in 2000 with the song Last One Standing.
Albert appeared on Channel 4 in 2002 as Debbie Dean. She left in 2005 but returned for guest appearances in 2005 and 2006. Albert received the British Soap Award for Sexiest Female for her role in Hollyoaks in 2005. Albert appeared in the reality television show California Dreaming after leaving Hollyoaks in an attempt to make it in Hollywood, but the film was cancelled before its conclusion. She has appeared on: Respectable; Casualty and The Inspector Lynley Mysteries for the BBC; and British film Popcorn, opposite ex-EastEnders actress Jack Ryder.
Albert formed Wonderland, an Irish-based girlgroup, in 2008 after her husband, Kian Egan, arranged auditions in collaboration with music manager Louis Walsh.
