Jimmy Wong Career

Career

When Wong posted his music video, "Ching Chong: Asians in the Library Song" on YouTube, he attracted national attention in March 2011. He made the video in response to a UCLA undergraduate's vlog rant against Asian students using cell phones in the UCLA library, one that MSNBC characterized as "offensive." According to NPR, Wong's video reaction was one that "effectively turn[ed] the tables on the original rant," providing an alternative defense against cyberbullying. Although initially furious by the video rant, Wong later revealed that humor gave him a better response, as he sought to "put a positive spin on all of it." In addition, he said that an eye for an eye approach would only encourage "this behavior to continue." The video "Ching Chong: Asians in the Library Song" went viral and was widely distributed by the American media.

Ashley Adams co-launched and co-host Feast of Fiction, the YouTube cooking show Feast of Fiction.

In the web series Video Game High School, Wong later portrayed Ted. He was also requested by Lionsgate and Google to produce the web series District Voices. In 2014, Wong ranked #73 on New Media Rockstars Top 100 Channels.

In Disney's 2020 live action remake of the 1998 Mulan animated film, Wong played Ling.

Wong is a huge fan of Magic: The Gathering, specifically the Commander version. Josh Lee Kwai co-host Josh Lee Kwai hosts The Command Zone, where he and Josh discuss their Commander experience. Due to the fact that he often plays red decks when playing commander, Wong is referred to by his co-host as "Jimmy the Red." Wizards of the Coast have also called on him to view new sets at exhibits and on their YouTube channel.
