Early life and education
Jesse Lee Soffer was born in Ossining, New York, to Jill Hindes (née Bruning) and Stan Soffer on April 23, 1984. In 1993, his father died when he was nine years old. Shayne and Jenna Hindes, his mother's second child, are Soffer's two younger half-sisters. Craig and Melisa Soffer are also two older half-siblings from his father's first marriage. Soffer lived in Tarrytown, New York, and later moved to Newtown, Connecticut, at the age of 10.
Soffer boarded at The Gunnery, a graduate from 2003. He played soccer in school and was named in the all-star team (prep school category) during his senior season. He took classes at New York University (NYU).

Soffer had a long association with Chicago P.D. Sophia Bush, a co-star from May 2014 to November 2016, appeared on May 2014 to November 2016.
After a year of dating, Soffer began dating Chicago Med actress Tory DeVitto, officially announcing their romance in August 2018. In May 2019, the two revealed that they had broken off their friendship.
Career
Soffer's acting career began at age 6 when he landed a Kix cereal commercial. In 1993, he made his debut film with John Goodman and Cathy Moriarty in the comedy Matinee.
Soffer co-starred Perpete in the film Safe Passage in 1994. Soffer co-starred as Bobby Brady in the comedy The Brady Bunch Movie in 1995 and starred in A Very Brady Sequel a year later. Soffer starred in the TV film From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Continuing the tradition of working with Oscar-calibre and A-list talent, Jamie Kincaid played a runaway-turned-sleuth Jamie Kincaid. He was nominated three times for the Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series in addition to an ATWT nomination for Outstanding Younger Lead Actor in 2005 as well as a Soap Opera Digest Award nomination for Outstanding Younger Lead Actor. Soffer returned to his film career in 2007 and co-starred with Carly Schroeder in Davis Guggenheim's sports drama Gracie, based on a true story. Soffer resurfaced on As the World Turns in July 2010, reviving his role as Will Munsen. He appeared in an episode of Dick Wolf's Law & Order: SVU during his time on As the World Turns. However, he was unable to film due to a scheduling conflict. Soffer appeared in In Time, a dystopian science fiction action thriller released in 2011.
Since then, he has appeared on a number of television shows, including CSI: Miami, The Mentalist, and Rizzoli & Isles. Nate Devlin, the streetwise brother of Dr. Grace Devlin, co-starred with Jordana Spiro in the short-lived Fox medical drama The Mob Doctor in 2012. Travis Alexander co-starred in Lifetime's original film Jodi Arias: Dirty Little Secret later this year.
In June 2013, Soffer appeared on the cast of the NBC police procedural comedy Chicago P.D., the first spin-off show from the drama Chicago Fire as Det. Jay Halstead.
