Houston Jerami Grant (born March 12, 1994) is an American professional basketball player for the Denver Nuggets of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
He played basketball for the Syracuse Oranges in college.
Personal life
Grant is the son of Harvey and Beverly Grant's, and he has three brothers: Jerai, Jerian, and Jaelin. Harvey played basketball at Clemson and Oklahoma in 1988 and was the 12th overall pick in the NBA draft, before moving to Washington (Bullets and Wizards) to play for 11 years in the NBA. Horace, Grant's uncle (twin brother of Harvey) played basketball at Clemson and was a four-time NBA champion for the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers. Jerai and Jerian, two of his brothers' names, are also pros basketball players.
High school career
Grant played for DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland, where he averaged 12.5 points in 23 games as a senior.

College career
Grant played 12.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 31.4 minutes per game from 2013-2014, shooting 41.6 percent from the floor; he also scored in double figures in 24 of 32 games played and scored 19 points three times. In addition, he was chosen for an All-ACC Honorable Mention award in 2014.
Grant declared for the NBA draft in April 2014, ending his two years of college eligibility. He started as a Guard but then, due to his defensive abilities, he was moved to the Small Forward position.
Professional career
Grant was selected in the second round of this year's NBA draft with the 39th overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers on June 26, 2014, and he joined the Philadelphia team in the 2014 NBA Summer League. He signed a four-year contract with the company on September 29, 2014, with two of them avowed. In a loss to the New York Knicks on January 21, 2015, he came away with eight blocks; this was the most blocks in a game for a 76er since Samuel Dalembert had nine on December 12, 2007, as well as the most by a 76er rookie since Shawn Bradley had nine on January 17, 1994. In a loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on February 2, he had his best game in season with 18 points and 7 rebounds.
Grant recalled the 76ers for the 2015 NBA Summer League in July 2015. He scored 12 points and 10 rebounds in his first double-double in his career, coming in a loss to the Toronto Raptors on November 11, 2015. In a 110-105 victory over the Sacramento Kings, he had a career-high 11 rebounds to go along with 16 points and five blocks.
Grant was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Ersan lyasova and a protected draft pick on November 1, 2016. In a 110–91 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on October 31, 2017, Grant scored 17 points off the bench. For the first time since April 1, 2016, he took 5 of 9 from the floor to a record 17 points.
Grant re-signed with the Thunder on July 7, 2018. In a 154-147 double-overtime loss to the San Antonio Spurs on January 10, 2019, he scored a then-high 25 points to go with 12 rebounds. In a 116-107 loss to the Miami Heat on March 18, he scored 27 points in a 116–107 loss. In a 127-116 victory over the Bucks, he set a new record of 28 points on April 10.

Grant won by 115-98 over the Detroit Pistons on February 25, 2020, a career-high 29 points. Grant defeated Paul George 14 to ten when playing 9 minutes less on September 15, 2020, a Game 7 victory over the favored Clippers. However, the Nuggets lost in five games to the Los Angeles Lakers, despite LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the Western Conference Finals. Grant signed a three-year, $60 million deal with the Detroit Pistons on November 22, 2020 as part of a sign-and-trade with the Denver Nuggets. Nikola Radievi, a 2015 second-round pick, was also granted in exchange for cash considerations. In a 105–102 loss to the Chicago Bulls on February 17, 2021, Grant scored a career-high 43 points. Grant finished the season as a Most Improved Player finalist, finishing second behind Julius Randle and averaging a career high in points per game.
Grant sustained a right thumb injury in a 93–109 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on December 10, 2021. He underwent surgery on December 16 to rebuild the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right thumb, and was ruled out for at least six weeks. Grant was ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering a calf strain on March 28, 2022.
Grant was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers along with the initial rights to Ismay (via Milwaukee), a top-four protected 2025 first-round pick (via Milwaukee), and two future second round picks on July 6, 2022. Grant beat the Los Angeles Lakers 106–104 on October 23, putting up 16 points along with a game-winning layup.
