Jens Toornstra (born 4 April 1989) is a Dutch footballer who plays for Feyenoord's Ethnic side.
He is most often an attacking midfielder, and he is praised for his perseverance and his tenacity.
Club career
Toornstra was born in Ter Aar. He played eight years for Alphense Boys, a youth football team in the Tweede Klasse C. In his last year, he scored 20 goals for the team. Kees Jansma, who was so impressed, recommended Toornstra to ADO Den Haag. The initials of ADO Den Haag's scouts were skeptical that Toornstra would be as good, but ADO Den Haag bought Toornstra for the reserve team.
Toornstra began working with ADO Den Haag in the summer of 2009 and ended with a six-month deal until July 2012. In the 3–0 victory over Willem II, he made his debut. He joined ADO as the first team player and quickly gained a lot of attention from AZ, FC Twente, and Roda JC. On July 4, Toornstra signed a new improved deal from the start of the year to the summer of 2013.
