Beginning Monday, Los Angeles elementary schools with children as young as five will celebrate 'National Coming Out Day' for a week. One of the celebrations is a 'Identity Nap' project, which is aimed at teaching'students' to think critically about identity and intersectionality.' Elementary teachers in the district received a "Week of Action Toolkit" from the Los Angeles Unified School District's Board of Education. According to reports, the toolkit includes lesson plans that the district deems appropriate for elementary students on LGBTQ+ topics. The celebration is a stark contrast to their bicoastal counterparts in Florida, where LGBT+ discussions in schools have almost entirely been outlawed, as well as some books.
Exp. According to the report, 81% of trans surgery patients suffer pain in the five years after gender change surgery, more than half believe having sex is painful, and a quarter are left incontinent

More than half of trans surgery patients suffered with pain during sex, and nearly every third of patients were unable to regulate their bladders after surgery, according to University of Florida researchers. In the weeks and months after going under the knife, nearly four quarters of those who underwent gender-affirming surgeries, as they are known, complained of pain mainly because of getting around in the weeks and months. Trans medicine advocates promote the surgeries as a trade-off, acknowledging the significant drawbacks but insisting that they are vital for those with significant problems with their own body.
Parents rail against school district for book that teaches kids about being transgender

'Call Me Max,' a picture book written by a transgender man, tells the tale of a child who identifies as transgender and is now being read aloud to children as young as four in Minnesota, according to state public school officials. The 32-page story, published in 2019, depicts a boy who struggles with the gender they were born with and asks teachers to identify them by a boy's name. Since its inception a few years ago, it has been outlawed in schools in several US states, such as Texas and Florida, after inciting protests and outrage amongst outraged parents. The book has since resurfaced on shelves in the Great Lake state, causing one parent, 47-year-old LaDawn Severin of Minneapolis, to slam officials at a recent school district board meeting.
