Jayasurya Life

Jayasurya (born 31 August 1979) is an Indian actor, film director, playback actor, and impressionist who works in Malayalam cinema.

He has appeared in more than 100 films, including a National Film Award, two Kerala State Film Awards, and a Filmfare Awards South for acting and Best actor at the Cincinnati Film Festival, which took place in Cincinnati, USA.

Jayasurya has appeared in a few Tamil films as well. Jayasurya began his work as a mimicry artist and produced a few television shows on Malayalam channels.

In the 1999 film Pathram, he made his acting debut as a background actor.

In Oomappenninu Uriyadappayan (2002), his break-through was playing a mute.

Jayasurya was known for his comedic roles in Swapnakkoodu (2003), Pulival (2003), Chocolate (2006), and Gulum (2009), as well as in villain roles in Classmates (2006), Arabikkatha (2007), and Kangaro (2007).

Jayasurya received critical acclaim for his roles in films including Cocktail (2010), Janapriyan (2011), Beautiful (2011), Trivandrum Lodge (2012), Su., 2015, Su., Lukka Chuppi (2015).

Jayasurya was born in 1978 in Tripunithura, Kochi, Kerala.

He attended St. George U. P. School, Chambakkara, and Government Sanskrit High School, Tripunithura. At All Saints College, Ernakulam, he earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He joined mimicry troupes like Crown of Cochin and Kottayam Nazeer's Cochin Discovery after studies, which culminated in an homage to Shakespeare.

Personal life

Film career

Jayasurya appeared in Kilukam Kilukilukkaam, a sequel to Kilukkam, in 2006. In Bus Conductor, Jayasurya appeared. In Classmates, he portrayed Satheesan Kanjikkuzhi, an aspiring student leader, in what was considered one of his best performances. In Lal Jose's Arabikkatha, he was later cast in a negative role. This was the protagonist in Hareendran Oru Nishkankan and Kangaroo. He appeared in Chocolate, the serious police officer in Positive, the comedic drama scriptwriter in Shakespeare M.A., and the romantic lover with a comedic accent. Malayalam, the small-time thief and villain in LollyPop, and the young politician in Balachandra Menon's De Ingottu Nokkiye were among the supporting cast members of Love in Singapore.

Although his performance was critically acclaimed, the film Cocktail in 2010 was what opened a new chapter in his career.

In 2011, he appeared in 20 get-ups in T. V. Chandran's fantasy film Sankaranum Mohananum. He appeared in Beautiful in the first year, and it went on to be a great critical success. Stephen played a Stephen, a paraplegic, and was well-received by audiences and critics alike, with some saying he had the best appearance to date and was one of the top candidates for best actor award prizes in several film festival competitions. His year's best films, Janapriyan and Beautiful, were his most commercially profitable films. In Aadu, he portrayed Shaji Pappan. Despite being a box office disaster, the film and his actor developed a following after the movie's DVD version was released. In Nadirshah's comedy film Amar Akbar Anthony, which was also a hit at the box office, he appeared alongside Prithviraj and Indrajith. His appearance in Su Su Su Sudhi Valiantam as a stammering individual was also lauded.

The comedy thriller Pretham and an action comedy film IDI were two of Jaysurya's most popular films in 2016. However, critics mostly dismissed IDI. Shajahanum Pareekuttiyum and School Bus were his year's best films.

In 2019, he received the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for his roles in Captain and Njan Marykutty.

Jayasurya was named best actor at the 20th Dhaka International Film Festival for Sunny in 2021, as well as second in Best Actor category for his role in Vellam.

On May 27, 2022, investigative thriller John Luther, directed by debutant Abhijith Joseph, is set to make its way into big screens. Jayasurya is expected to play John Luther, a cop who is trying to figure out the mystery surrounding a road accident and subsequent missing persons case. In the pipeline, he also has Eesho, which Nadirshah has directed.
