After a stint with producer Michael Hausman and director Milo Forman, he graduated from Columbia University in 1985 with a MFA in screenwriting and directing.

End of the Line (1987), Sundance Institute's debut film, was released by Orion Classics.

Since writing scripts for Paramount Pictures, Imagine Entertainment, and TriStar Pictures, he has produced numerous documentaries for PBS, Discovery Channel, Fox, Fox, USA Network, and NBC. Russell Bros., as he returned to feature film directing.
