Jay Pickett (born February 10, 1961) is an American actor.

Early life and education

Pickett was born in Spokane, Washington, and he grew up in Caldwell, Idaho. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in acting at Boise State University and his Master of Fine Arts in acting from the University of California, Los Angeles, and appeared in numerous theatrical productions at both colleges.

Personal life

Pickett and his partner, Elena, lived in California and had three children. He was best friends with former Port Charles co-star Michael Dietz and was the godfather to Madison's daughter, Madison.

Pickett died as a result of a heart attack while shooting a scene for Travis Mills' film Treasure Valley on a set near Oreana, Idaho, on July 30, 2021. 60.

Career

Pickett appeared in Rags to Riches, as well as on such films as China Beach, Mr. Belvedere, Dragnet, Jake, and The Fatman, Days of Our Lives, Perry Mason, and Matlock.

On the ABC Daytime drama Port Charles, Pickett created Frank Scanlon, a dedicated paramedic and substitute teacher as well as Joe Scanlon's befuddled older brother. Pickett was substituted by actor Ted King in the role of Lorenzo Alcazar on the soap opera GC Hospital, the parent company of Port Charles. Pickett resurfaced in 2007 in the role of Detective David Harper, who appeared on a recurring basis.

He loved most sports, including football, basketball, baseball, baseball, and skiing. He was also an expert roper and western horse rider.
