As his twin brother returned to school this week, an eight-year-old boy lyzed from the waist down in the Highland Park parade shooting returned to school this week. After months of recovery following the deadly shooting at a Freedom Day parade outside of Chicago, Cooper Roberts is back in the classroom. As a gunman opened fire on the crowd, breaking his vertebrae, Cooper's spinal cord was severed. However, he still has a long road to recover, as his parents say.
