Jason Chaffetz Life

Jason E. Chaffetz (born March 26, 1967) is an American politician who served as the U.S. Representative for Utah's 3rd congressional district from 2009 to 2017.

From 2015 to 2017, he chaired the Commission on Oversight and Government Reform. During his tenure as a US Representative, he was opposed to the Affordable Care Act, same-sex marriage, and a scientific consensus on climate change.

He voiced reservations about mandatory vaccinations and announced that hearings would be held to determine their safety.

He was a vocal critic of the Obama administration's conduct in the 2012 Benghazi attack.

Planned Parenthood had also been critical of it.

He opposes net neutrality and held hearings to look at the FCC's decision to implement net neutrality laws in 2015. Chaffetz came to fame in 2015 for his extensive probe into Hillary Clinton.

In early October 2016, he rescinded his support for Donald Trump but confirmed his intention to vote for him three weeks later.

Chaffetz drew criticism after the 2016 election for failing to investigate definite conflicts of interest relating to President Donald J. Trump's campaign and subsequent presidential administration, as well as other individuals involved in his 2016 presidential campaign and subsequent presidential administration. Chaffetz said on April 19, 2017 that he did not seek re-election in 2018 and that he would leave the House of Representatives on May 18, 2017.

Chaffetz joined Fox News as a reporter and began with the network on July 1, 2017.

Early life and education

Chaffetz was born in Los Gatos, California, and Colorado, and later moved to California, Arizona, and Colorado. John A. Chaffetz (1935-2012) was a businessman, and Margaret "Peggy" A. Wood, a Christian Scientist who later became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, operated a photography firm. His father became involved with the Los Angeles Aztecs, a professional soccer team, in the late 1970s. His father later wrote Gay Reality: The Team Guido Story, a book about a gay couple who competed on The Amazing Race. Alex, his younger brother, owns a Colorado-based media consulting company.

Chaffetz's father was Jewish, and his paternal grandfather Maxwell (Max) Chaffetz (1909-1996), the son of Russian immigrants, was an FBI Special Agent. Max Chaffetz was the brother of Hammond E. Chaffetz, who pioneered federal antitrust enforcement efforts before converting Kirkland & Ellis into one of the country's biggest law firms, as well as the second cousin of Washington, D.C. real estate developer and philanthropist Morris Cafritz.

Kitty Dukakis (née Dickson), Chaffetz's first wife, married Michael Dukakis, the current Massachusetts governor and 1988 Democratic presidential nominee, and 1988 Democratic presidential nominee. Chaffetz's father and Kitty Dukakis lived for four years, producing Chaffetz's elder half-brother John Dukakis (born John A. Chaffetz), who was later adopted by Michael and Kitty Dukakis. Chaffetz served as a Utah co-chairman of Michael Dukakis' 1988 presidential bid while attending college. Chaffetz is still close to his half-brother and the Dukakis family as they were announced in 2009.

Chaffetz attended high school in California, Middle Park High School in Granby, Colorado, and Brigham Young University on an athletic scholarship, and was the starting placekicker on the Brigham Young University football team in 1988 and 1989. Chaffetz converted 16 of 25 field goal attempts (64 percent) and 89 of 94 point-after attempts (95 percent). He still holds the school's individual record for the most extra points attempted in a game, most extra points earned in a game, and the most consecutive extra points in a game. Chaffetz earned a Bachelor's degree from BYU College of Fine Arts and Communications in 1989. In communications, we're in contact.

Chaffetz, a raised Jewish man, attended The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during his undergraduate years. He and Julie Johnson were married in 1989 at a wedding in Arizona, when he was a senior and Julie Johnson was a junior at Brigham Young University. In February 1991, the couple married in February. Chaffetz spent about a decade in public relations for Nu Skin International, a multi-level marketing firm.

Jason Chaffetz Career

Early political career

Chaffetz became a Republican after meeting Ronald Reagan in 1990 when Reagan visited Chaffetz's employer, Nu Skin, as a motivational speaker. However, his political views had shifted more to the right even though working for Dukakis. Chaffetz applied to be an agent in the United States Secret Service in 2003, but was refused because "better qualified applicants existed." The Secret Service Inspector General discovered that agents unlawfully accessed Chaffetz's personnel file, which included this information after Chaffetz began looking into the Secret Service.

Chaffetz, the campaign manager for Utah gubernatorial candidate Jon Huntsman, was born in 2004. Huntsman was elected to the race, and Chaffetz became Huntsman's chief of staff when he took office in January 2005. Chaffetz founded Maxtera Utah Inc., a company that provides integrated communications and marketing services in 2005. Chaffetz was appointed as a trustee for Utah Valley State College by Huntsman in 2006. Chaffetz has served as a member of the Highland City planning commission and as chairman of the Utah National Guard adjutant general examination.

Post-congressional career

Chaffetz became a commentator and author after leaving office. Chaffetz became a Fox News contributor on July 1, 2017, the day after his official resignation from Congress. He served as a visiting fellow at the Harvard Institute of Politics in 2017. (IOP)

Since leaving office, he has written several books. In September, 2018, his first book, The Deep State: How an Army of Bureaucrats Protected Barack Obama and Is Working to Destroy the Trump Agenda, was published in New York Times bestsellers. Following the September launch of Power Grab: The Liberal Plan to Undermine Trump, Congress, and Our Republic. Chaffetz's third book, They Never Let a Crisis Go to Waste, was published in 2021, which commentator Jeffrey Lord called a "seriously important book" as well as a podcast, Jason in the House.

Secret Service director Kimberly Cheatle is blasted for 'stupidity' and 'BS excuse' that snipers were not on the roof used by gunman Thomas Crooks because it was 'too sloped'

www.dailymail.co.uk, July 17, 2024
The Secret Service's director Kimberly Cheatle has been blasted for her 'stupidity' and 'BS excuse' that the snipers were not present on the roof used by would-be assassin Thomas Crooks because it was 'too sloped'. Speaking to ABC News on Tuesday, Cheatle claimed that agents were not positioned on top of the sloped building, deeming it too dangerous - despite images from the scene showing Secret Service snipers set up on a sloped roof behind where Trump was delivering his speech. Instead of placing her snipers on the roof of the American Glass Research Building in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Crooks fired from, she made the decision to secure the building from the inside. 'That building in particular has a sloped roof at its highest point,' she claimed. 'And so, you know, there's a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn't want to put somebody up on a sloped roof.

Thomas Crook's cell phone is seen on roof next to mysterious device leading to more unanswered questions into attempted assassination that shocked the world

The photo was taken by law enforcement agents seconds after the 20-year-old was shot dead by Secret Service agents following his assassination attempt on the former president at his Pennsylvania campaign rally on Saturday. Channel 11′s Nicole Ford, who obtained the exclusive photo, revealed that law enforcement agents saw Crooks acting suspiciously outside Butler's single-story AGR International building from which he shot the ex-President, more than an hour before he pulled the trigger at 6.11pm. Now Secret Service director Kimberley Cheatle faces fresh questions after local law enforcement officials directly contradicted her claim that a Beaver County sniper team stationed in the very building from which Trump was shot. It emerged on Tuesday that the killer penetrated the security area of the rally a full three hours before carrying out his attack, after driving the 50 miles north from his home in Bethel Park on the southern outskirts of Pittsburgh.

Trump shooter's ominous request to his boss before assassination attempt revealed... and the eerie moment he locked eyes with counter-sniper before opening fire

The would-be assassin told colleagues at the Bethel Park Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center that he would see them on Sunday. But a Secret Service agent at the Butler rally ensured that he would be the last person that Crooks saw as he locked eyes with the killer before shooting him dead. Agents found him in their sights and one pulled the trigger seconds after the 20-year-old shot dead Pennsylvania fire chief Corey Comperatore, critically injured two others and hitting Trump in the right ear after scaling a building 147 yards away. 'They were looking at him while he was looking at them,' a senior federal law enforcement official told CNN .
