Jang Dong-yoon (born July 12, 1992) is a South Korean actor who appeared on TV.

He is best known for his lead roles in the popular television series School 2017 (1970), A Poem a Day (2018), and The Tale of Nokdu (2019).

In May 2012, Jang began his mandatory military service after graduating high school and was discharged in February 2014.

Career

Jang was praised in the media in 2015 for his courage while studying at Hanyang University. He had come across a lethal weapon attacking a convenience store clerk in Seoul's Gwanak District, and it was announced that he had devised a quick strategy to have the perpetrator arrested. For this act of heroism, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency awarded him with a citation. Later, his fame led to him receiving several casting calls.

Jang debuted as an actor in the Naver web drama Women at a Game Company in 2016. He appeared in Solomon's Perception later this year.

He appeared in 2017 as one of the main casts of the KBS teen romance drama School 2017's main casts. He appeared in If We We Were a Season, a KBS Drama Special, the same year.

In 2018, he was in the leading role in the televisionN's medical drama A Poem a Day. Mr. Sunshine, a supporting actor, appeared in the historical drama the year before. He made his silver screen debut with the indie film Beautiful Days, which opened the 23rd Busan International Film Festival, where he appeared as Lee Na-young's son. During the 2018 KBS Drama Awards, he appeared in the youth drama Just Dance, for which he received the Best Actor in a One Act/Special/Short Drama Award.

Jang appeared in the historical romantic comedy drama The Tale of Nokdu in 2019, alongside actress Kim So-hyun. He gained attention and increased success for his portrayal of the cross-dressing hero. At the 7th APAN Star Awards, he was named Outstanding Actor in a Miniseries and Best New Actor.

He appeared in another indie film, Run Boy Run by director Oh Won-jae in 2020. In South Korea's first military drama set in the demilitarized zone, he appeared as a military dog handler.

Joseon Exorcist, a program on which Jang Dong-yoon was one of the leading actors of 2021, was cancelled after two episodes were aired during the controversy over historic inaccuracies, such as incorrect use of Chinese traditional props. Actors began to delete drama-related SNS messages, and Jang Dong-yoon was the first one to announce his name and apology. In October 2021, it was announced that the animated film Tae-il starring Jang's voice would be released in December 2021.

With the film Project Wolf Hunting, a return to the big screen in 2022, Jang returned to the big screen in 2022, marking a return to the big screen in a year.
