EPHRAIM HARDCASTLE: Prince Andrew spent £7.5 million on repairs and renovations on his own property after being granted a 75-year lease on Royal Lodge in 2003. As a result, the Crown Estate waived any rent due for the remainder of his tenure. And if he resigns the lease before 2028, the Crown Estate is liable to compensate him for the Lodge's capital outlay.

A look for the young stars who haven't accepted cancer

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 14, 2022
The Mail today is the recipient of this year's Cancer Research UK Star Awards, which honor children with cancer's courage. The annual festival exemplifies the extraordinary tenacity demonstrated by the thousands of British children under the age of 18 who are diagnosed with the disease each year. None of Connor Sunderland's swimming rivals know how tough the boy in the next lane is. Not only is Connor (picture left) yelling them every inch of the way in the pool, but he's doing it after battling cancer. In his short life, Jaden Stewart (pictured right) has had more medical emergencies than in decades. He was named with a Star Award in June 2020 for his bravery in dealing with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, which he was diagnosed with in June 2020.

WHAT BOOK will Jacqueline Wilson, the best-selling children's author, take to a desert island?

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 6, 2022
A. N. Wilson's Life Of Failures: A. Confessions Since reading Wilson's first book, I've been a fan of the author. I love his non-fiction, especially Dickens' brilliant book. He's only written about his horrific experiences at a sadistic prep school, but now in this insightful, searingly honest memoir, he shares more of his personal life. You see from the photograph on the back cover that his young fogey clothes and studious air were evident at a very early age! He may now be his own ferocious critic, but is presumably too modest to tell his tales of kindnesses. When she was in her early tees, my daughter wrote her an earnest letter about his early book The Healing Art. He was certainly bombarded with fan mail, but he took the time to write a lengthy three-page letter, treating her with respect and kindness.
