Jacqueline Woodburne (born 5 February 1956) is a Northern Irish-born actress known for her appearances in Neighbours (a role she has performed for 25 years) and her previous television soap opera appearances in The Young Doctors, Sons and Daughters, and Prisoner As of 2019, after Neighbours co-star Alan Fletcher, she is Australia's third longest-serving soap opera actress.
Early life
Woodburne was born in Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland. Her father was a member of the Royal Ulster Constabulary. She has two older siblings, John and Stephen. She and her family immigrated to Australia at the age of three. The family was hoping that her father would join the Australian police on arrival, but he was unable to do so due to a variety of laws and regulations. Woodburne grew up in Frankston, Victoria, and attended Forest Hill Primary School, Montef Secondary College, and Karingal High School.
Career
Woodburne, a future Neighbours cast member, attended the National Theatre Drama School and graduated in 1980. In the television miniseries Outbreak of Love, Woodburne played Josie. Woodburne appeared in ABC Film 1915 as Dianne, as well as Sigrid Thornton, Scott McGregor, and Scott Burgess. Woodburne said that the war is not the only focus of the miniseries because it shows how the women's lives were affected by World War II.
She auditioned for the role of Pippa Fletcher in TV soap Home and Away in 1990, but producers were searching for a revival after original portrayer Vanessa Downing dropped out, but Debra Lawrance took the lead.
