Music career
Ribo began singing at the age of eight, and at the age of thirteen, he began writing, composing, and recording songs at his house. He learned to play the guitar four years later, having written 100 songs. Yehuda Meisner, a musicioso, was instrumental in discovering him and establishing his diverse and memorable career. Ribo disassociated himself from Meisner after being slapped while asleep in his tour bus. He had no formal music training. "Tachlis" (Goal) was a project formed by he and his colleagues that combined heavy metal rock with religious lyrics.
Ribo performed "Ohr Kazeh" ("A Light Like This") on Raichel's 2013 album "Reva LaShesh" ("A Quarter to Six"), and was the first religious singer to participate in the Idan Raichel Project in 2012. At one of Raichel's performances, he performed "Tochu Ratzuf Ahavah" for the first time.
On the album "Simchat Olam" ("Joy of the World"), he performed the song "Chadeish Sessoni," which consisted of songs composed by Rabbi Yitzchak Ginsburgh. He was also featured on the album Achakeh Lo ("I Will Wait For Him"), which includes songs from The Heart and The Spring band's Holocaust collection.
Ribo performed "You Won Everything With Me" ("You Won Everything With Me") alongside Benayoun at a concert in Sultan's Pool, Jerusalem, in August 2019.
Ribo's debut album, Tocho Ratzuf Ahavah, was released in 2014 (He Is Filled With Continuous Love). At the 2013 Israel Song Festival, the album's third single, "Kol Dodi" ("The Voice of My Beloved"), earned second place. The album had been rated gold on its way to the United States.
Ribo released "Mekasheh Achat Zahav" ("A Solid Piece of Gold") in October 2015, the first single from his second album, "Mekasheh Achat Zahav"), which he wrote in honor of his second son's birth. Pachad Gevahim ("Fear of Heights"), his second album, released in 2016, was released in 2016. The album was also rated gold.
Ribo released Shetach Afor ("Gray Area") in February 2018, which was certified platinum. "Lashuv HaBaytah" ("Coming Home"), one of the album's top hits, with its music video receiving more than 40 million views on YouTube. According to the song, it has more than 11 million streams on Spotify as of 2021.
He released "Nafshi" ("My Soul"), a duet sung with Hasidic singer Motty Steinmetz in 2018. Ribo performs his traditional Hebrew pronunciation while Steinmetz performs with a Hasidic accent. He released the single "HaLev Shely" ("My Heart") in January 2019. The single "Seder Ha'avodah" ("Order of the Service") was released on September 3rd, a song that compares the Yom Kippur service in Jerusalem's Temple. These three singles were from his album Elul 5779, which was released in September 2019. This collection includes selichot hymns and songs relating to Yom Kippur, as well as covers of songs by Shlomo Carlebach and Rabbi Hillel Paley, whom Ribo intends to introduce to his secular audiences.
Ribo appears in concert throughout Israel, both in general venues and for gender-independence audiences. He appears with Shlomo Artzi, Omer Adam, Natan Goshen, and Amir Dadon. About 85% of his concert appearances, he cites the national-religious sector. Audiences sing the words along with him at his concerts.
