Isaac Waddington (born 9 August 1999) is an English singer and pianist who came to national prominence as a contestant on Britain's Got Talent in 2015.
Career
Waddington's singing career began as a chorister at Chichester Cathedral, during which he also attended The Prebendal School. He went on to be Head Chorister of the cathedral Choir and studied at The Portsmouth Grammar School. He won the BBC Radio 2 Chorister of the Year competition in 2012, resulting in a appearance on Songs of Praise.
On April 25, 2015, Waddington's audition for the ninth series of Britain's Got Talent was shown on ITV. Billy Joel's "She's Always a Woman" was welcomed by the jury panel and the general public responded with a generally favorable response.
Waddington was chosen to advance to the live semi-finals of the competition on the fourth night (28 May). The performance of Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me" resulted in a standing ovation throughout the stadium. He qualified in the semi-finals and advanced to the finals. Waddington's odds of winning the finals were slashed by betting companies, with Ladbrokes putting his hopes on 9/1. Isaac was unaware of this at the time.
Waddington performed his audition piece, She's Always a Woman, on May 31. It evoked another warm response. Simon Cowell, the head judge, remarked on how "little changes" made a difference, with his appearance since his debut. Despite finishing fifth overall, with 9.7% of the public vote, he was signed by Cowell's brand, Syco, within a week.
In February 2018, Waddington's debut single, 'Nothing's Changed,' was released. He released one song a week for five weeks in 2019, starting with the song 'Make It Better.' In September 2020, he dropped "Dirty Mile," a new EP titled after the titular song.
