Music career

Jensen was born in North Vancouver and grew up in Nanaimo. In Boston, she was awarded a scholarship to Berklee College of Music.

She began studying at Berklee and worked at the Bruckner Conservatory in Austria when she was 25. In 1994, she returned to the United States and became a member of the DIVA Big Band. Vernal Fields (Enja, 1994), her debut album, appeared and received a Juno Award during the same year.

Jensen has worked with Maria Schneider, Steve Wilson, Jeff "Tain" Watts, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Bill Stewart, Billy Bartz, Billy Smith, George Garzone, Geoffrey Keezer, Clark Terry, Frank Wess, and Billy Taylor, as well as her sister Christine Jensen.

Denis Leary, a British soul singer, appeared on Saturday Night Live with Corrine Bailey Rae and the horn section supporting actor Denis Leary.
