Indiana Rose Evans (born 27 July 1990) is an Australian actress and singer-songwriter best known for her appearances in Home and Away as Matilda Hunter, H2O: Just Add Water as Bella Hartley, and The Awakening as Emmaline Robinson.

Early life

When Evans was five years old, she had a keen interest in performing, and she would perform for family and friends. Evans' parents insisted that she attend ballet and then advanced to jazz and tap at the age of seven.

Evans began high school at Newtown High School of the Performing Arts but then decided to concentrate on her acting career after two weeks. She continued on a correspondence course until she hit the age of 15.

In the 2003 Australian medical drama All Saints, Evans made her acting debut. She then gained her first role in an American campaign for Kool-Aid. Evans appeared on a recurring basis on the Nine Network children's series Snobs, which revolves on two unlikely friends from two different worlds. The series only lasted one season. Since being on television, including Comedy Inc., Cops L.A., and The Strip, Evans has appeared on various television shows, including Comedy Inc.

Evans appeared in the long-running Seven Network soap opera Home and Away following Snobs. Matilda Hunter, a wealthy teenage girl who is compelled to relocate to Caravan Park, was portrayed by the actress. For the role, Evans was nominated for a Logie Award and an Inside Soap Award. Evans announced in April 2008 that she had been given a contract extension but that she turned down the offer and instead will be leaving the series. In July 2008, Evans made her last appearance.

In 2009, Evans appeared in the Network Ten television film A Model Daughter: The Killing of Caroline Byrne. Evans replaced Claire Holt as one of the three leading characters on the Network Ten Children television series H2O: Just Add Water. Isabella "Bella" Hartley, an aspiring singer and mermaid from the age of nine, appeared in this role. "No Ordinary Girl" was Evans' theme tune, as well as a number of other tracks that were released throughout the season. In March 2011, she released the series H2O: Just Add Water, a solo soundtrack album. The series was not revived for a fourth season.

In August 2010, Evans made her Australian debut in the Australian disaster film Arctic Blast, portraying Naomi Tate. The film follows a solar eclipse that threatens to engulf the earth in ice and usher in a new ice age. The film was shot in Tasmania on a budget of A$5 million. Critics were split on the book.

Evans was cast as a regular in the ABC Legal Drama television series Crownies, which revolves around a group of solicitors new from law school who work for the Director of Public Prosecution. Tatum Novak, the daughter of a notorious gangster, was performed by Evans. The series was shot in Sydney, New South Wales, and premiered on July 14th, 2011; it was not renewed for a year and was not revived.

Evans and co-star Brenton Thwaites appeared on Home and Away in February 2012 and won the female lead role in the 2012 Lifetime television film Blue Lagoon: The Awakening.

Evans appeared in the cast of the US television drama Secrets and Lies in February 2014. The series first aired on ABC on January 2014 and is based on the Australian series of the same name, which first premiered in March 2014.
