Early life and poetic career

In Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Mohammed Imran Khan to Mohammed Iliyas Khan was born on August 6, 1987. He obtained his masters in Hindi literature from Allahabad University. He wrote poetry in Hindi and appeared in Kavi Sammelans (poetry symposiums) at the time. In 2008, he began participating in Mushairas, and Nazm Madrasa became popular. Filisteen, Najeeb, and Umar are among his more than 100 Nazms written by him, apart from Madarsa.

Political career

Pratapgarhi, a critic of India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi, resigned in the Indian national Congress and contested in the 2019 Indian general election in Moradabad, where he lost to S. T. Hasan of Samajwadi Party by a margin of more than half a million votes (590,218 votes).

On June 3, 2021, Pratapgarhi was appointed as the head of the AICC minority department.

Pratapgarhi was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra in June 2022 on the Indian National Congress nomination.
