Hunter Tylo Career

Career

Tylo was born Deborah Morehart and appeared in The Initiation film starring Daphne Zuniga, a futuristic Melrose Place actress. Tylo went on to be well-known after appearing in regular roles in American daytime soap operas. In 1985, her television debut was on All My Children. She was forced to leave the role in 1988 due to her friendship with Michael Tylo, another cast member (whom she married in 1987).

On Days of Our Lives, she appeared as Marina Toscano, Isabella Toscano's half-sister. Steven "Patch" Johnson and Kayla Brady, one of the soap's most popular couples, were both frustrated by the actress. "Everyone hated my character," Tylo later said. [...] I hated her. They [producers] said they were going to do something with her, but they never did. "I feared going to work for the first few weeks because I was on the show" The character was later killed off and Tylo left the show in 1990.

Tylo, who had been unable to perform on soap operas, decided to leave performing and enroll in Fordham University in the Bronx, New York, intending to be a pre-med student. She and her husband were planning to move to New York City, and she was given the role of Dr. Taylor Hayes on The Bold and the Beautiful. She initially refused to take part in the role but then relinced. She began her career in 1990 when pursuing her degree at Fordham.

Making a Miracle was Tylo's autobiography, published in 2000. In 2002, Tylo was introduced to The Bold and the Beautiful. She appeared as a vision at the show in 2004 for a two-episode appearance. She returned as a series regular in May 2005 and then restarted the series in July 2013. In 2014, she returned to the show for a few weeks as a result of her story arc.

Tylo has been included twice on People magazine's list of the "50 Most Beautiful People In The World."

Tylo appeared in Melrose Place in 1996 and had left The Bold and the Beautiful to play him. However, she was fired by Melrose Place producer Aaron Spelling before she announced she was pregnant before filming any episodes for the series. Taylor McBride, the woman she was supposed to play, was recast, with Lisa Rinna taking the role. Tylo returned to The Bold and the Beautiful within a few hours. Tylo sued Spelling on the grounds of racial discrimination for being pregnant and gained $4.8 million from a Los Angeles jury. Spelling argued that Tylo's pregnancy made her unable to play the role, who was supposed to be a sex seductress. Tylo released photos of herself while pregnant, revealing that she retained a slim figure even during the trial. Tylo's attorneys secured partial success in an interlocutory appeal challenging a lower court's order for her to answer a variety of personal issues prior to trial. Tylo's right to refuse to answer questions during her deposition regarding marital difficulties and psychological care was confirmed by the Court, but the court maintained the portion of the order that compelled her to answer questions regarding her pregnancy, her husband's ability or inability to impregnate her, and her agent's concerns regarding her attempts and potential to become pregnant. The case is widely recognized as one of the first deposition right of privacy and the right of actresses to continue to work while pregnant.
