Hugh Dillon Life

Hugh Dillon (born May 31, 1963) is a Canadian musician and actor.

He is the lead singer of the punk-influenced band Headstones.

He is also a film and television actor; his notable roles include Mike Sweeney in Durham County and Ed Lane in Flashpoint.

Early life

Dillon was born and grew up in Kingston, Ontario. Dillon grew up living on the same street as future NHL star Doug Gilmour and would play hockey with him on the frozen swamp in their neighbourhood. Dillon also played hockey with Paul Langlois, future guitarist of The Tragically Hip. Dillon attended the Kingston Collegiate and Vocational Institute at the same time that David Usher and members of The Tragically Hip such as Gord Downie attended the school. After high school, Dillon briefly attended Queen's University and lived in London, England, before moving to Toronto and now divides his time between there and Los Angeles.

Music career

Dillon is the lead singer for Headstones, a rock band. Picture of Health, the band's debut album, was released in 1993 and featured songs "When Something Stands For Nothing," "Ceeter and the Monkey Man," and "Three Angels." The album was met with critical acclaim and commercial success, having been honoured platinum in Canada for shipments in excess of 100,000 copies. The band has released ten studio albums and many chart-topping singles during their three decades of recording success.

Dillon formed the Hugh Dillon Redemption Choir, an indie rock band whose style draws from country, pop, punk, and new wave influences after the Headstones broke up in 2003. J.P. Polsoni, Chris Osti on bass, keyboardist Ben Kobayashi, and drummer Derek Downham were among the band members. In 2005, the band's The High Co$t of Low Living album was released by The Tragically Hip guitarist Paul Langlois' Ching Music label. In 2009, Dillon released Works Well With Others, a solo album that Ching Music also released.

Original band members (Dillon, Carr & White) reformed the band in 2011 after their hiatus. Love + Fury, PledgeMusic's third installment, was funded by the crowd in 2013. Love + Fury is the band's first top ten album, and it has earned the band a No. 61. There is a hit single in 1's lifetime. In 2014, the Headstones released One in the Chamber Music, a crowdfunded album. Fuck It became the band's first-ever vinyl album on record in 2015.

In 2017, Cadence Music was released for the first time. The No. 8 appeared on the album. The Devil's On Fire" hit 1st. The Headstones published Peopleskills in 2019, which included "Let It All Behind" and "Horses," two No. 0s. On the US Billboard charts, there are 3 singles.

Acting career

In director Bruce McDonald's 1995 film Dance Me Outside, Dillon's first big-screen acting role was in director Bruce McDonald's The Innocence Of Women. In McDonald's 1996 feature film, Hard Core Logo, he appeared as Joe Dick in a leading role.

Dillon has appeared in many feature films, including Lone Hero, 2005's Assault on Precinct 13, and Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning. He was nominated for the Best Support Actor award at the 2007 Genie Awards for his role in Trailer Park Boys: The Movie in 2007. In the Sundance Film Festival award-winning film Down to the Bone, he appeared opposite Vera Farmiga. Dillon has appeared on several television shows, including The Eleventh Hour, ReGenesis, and Degrassi: The Next Generation. A number of television and radio ads have also been voice-overs.

In the Canadian dramatic series Durham County, Dillon appeared as Mike Sweeney. His appearance earned him a Gemini award for Best Actor in 2008; the show itself received five Gemini awards and its second season was broadcast on TMN and Movie Central.

In the CTV/CBS police drama series Flashpoint, directed in Toronto, which lasted for five seasons between 2008 and 2012, Dillon starred Sergeant Ed Lane. In 2014, Dillon received the "Shaw Media Award for Best Actor in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role" at the Canadian Screen Awards for his role in the episode "Fit for Duty" on Flashpoint.
