Career
Skelton, who had been working in public relations for a brief period of time, has decided to concentrate on journalism. She worked in CFM Radio and appeared on numerous shows at Border Television before becoming a breakfast presenter on BBC Radio Cumbria in 2005, one of the youngest breakfast slot presenters on the BBC network at that time. She was previously a reporter and occasional host on children's news show Newsround and its weekend sports-based version, Sportsround.
Skelton was introduced as a host on Blue Peter on August 28, 2008, replacing Zöe Salmon and becoming the programme's 33rd host. Skelton played an uncredited role in Merlin's BBC film. She announced her exit from the show in August 2013 and was replaced by Radzi Chinyanganya. Skelton worked on other projects during her tenure on Blue Peter, mainly correspondent-based; they included reports from Wimbledon, Wimbledon, and the Championships.
Skelton migrated from Blue Peter to host live FA Women's Super League football matches for the BT Sport channel, as well as keeping her BBC reporter role.
