Heather Morris Career

Career

Morris' first major appearance on So You Think You Can Dance Season 2 in 2006 was where she made it to "Vegas Week" without being cutoff, but she failed to make the final 20 by a vote of 3 to 2.

Morris was not discouraged, and he embarked on a career in dancing. Beyoncé was her first break in 2007. Morris was one of Beyoncé's backup dancers on the Beyoncé Experience world tour and then went back to Beyoncé on a mini "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" promotional tour that included 2008 performances on the American Music Awards, Saturday Night Live, Ellen DeGeneres Show, Today, and MTV's Total Request Live finale. At the 50th Annual Grammy Awards in 2008, she also danced backup for Beyoncé and Tina Turner. She appeared in a small part in Fired Up, where she met choreographer Zach Woodlee. Woodlee brought Morris in to perform on other programs he was choreographing, including episodes of Eli Stone and Swingtown and the film Bedtime Stories; eventually, Morris found himself on Glee as Brittany.

Morris was named in December 2010 as the Celebrity Style Ambassador for FLIRT. Estee Lauder cosmetics, cosmetics, and a lipstick collection. Morris came in at number 85 on the Maxim Hot 100 list in 2010, finishing at number 85. She ranked second behind her close friend Naya Rivera on the AfterEllen hot 100 list.

Morris appeared in a back-to-school commercial for Staples Canada in 2011 that featured her dancing.

She revealed that she had her breast implants removed in the October 2011 issue of Fitness magazine. "Implants were something I thought I wanted when I was younger, but now I don't." Since my chest was always sore, being active with them was difficult. It hurt a lot, and I didn't like being in pain all the time, so they had to go!" She breast implant surgery was performed sometime between So You Think You Can Dance age 18 and age 21, when she was a backup dancer for Beyoncé.

Morris was attending acting lessons and seriously considering an acting career when Woodlee was asked by Woodlee to lead the choreography for Beyoncé's "Single Ladies" dance to the Glee actors. Morris ended up playing Brittany at the same time as the show was looking for a third cheerleader, and she did end up landing the role. Morris was never really a background figure who barely spoke, and it's now a writer who knew Morris was an expert at delivering one-liners. Morris had "emerged as one of the funniest second bananas on television right now," according to Jartt Wieselman of the New York Times, who plays Morris. Morris, the galactically dim Glee Club cheerleader Brittany, has a "comedy crush on him."

When a promotional clip for "Sectionals" revealed that Brittany Pierce and Santana Lopez had slept together, Dorothy Snarker, a feminist entertainment website After Ellen, praised the pair, referring to them as "Brittana." "While Heather Morris (Brittany) and Naya Rivera (Santana) had minimal screen time, they've made it count," Snarker said of the two "new favorite Glee pairings." As the Cheerio is least likely to get a Mensa invitation, Heather in particular has made the comebacks. Forget Finn and Rachel, I'm on Team Brittana now."

Morris' role became more prominent during the final nine episodes of season one, and she was given first-class status during season two due to her largely positive reaction to her character. She was at the heart of the second episode, "Britney/Brittany," where she made her singing debut on Spears' "I'm a Slave 4 U" solo and dueting with Naya Rivera on "Me Against the Music." She has since performed and danced solos. Morris' character appeared in a lesbian storyline with Rivera's character in the second half of season two. The arc and Rivera's and Morris' performances were met with critical acclaim. Morris, the co-star Rivera, was one of the best friends in real life until her death in 2020.

In Season 3, her and Rivera's characters continue to explore the lesbian storyline. Morris was a central role in the episode "Prom-asaurus." She announces that she has a 0.0 GPA and that she will not be graduating during the season finale.

Morris performed Britney Spears' "I'm a Slave 4 U" during the 2011 Glee Tour. During Naya Rivera's appearance of "Valerie," she had a dance spotlight with castmate Harry Shum Jr. and she was one of the dancers in the "Single Ladies" and "Safety Dance" numbers.

Morris co-wrote and appeared in a Funny or Die video on January 11, 2011 (Nuthin' But A Glee Thang), a parody of "Nuthin" but a 'G' Thang' by Dr. Dre starring Snoop Dogg) a parody of "Nuthin' But A Glee Thang). The video co-written with actress Ashley Lendzion and Riki Lindhome and showcases appearances from Modern Family's Sofia Vergara and Morris' Glee cast members Matthew Morrison, Cory Monteith, Harry Shum Jr., and Naya Rivera.

Morris will not be returning as a regular on Glee's fifth season as a regular on June 28, 2013. Morris, on the other hand, reprised her role in the show's centennial episode and the show's final episode. Morris appeared in five episodes in the show's sixth and final season, as well as the series's finale.

Morris was announced on March 1, 2017 as one of the contestants who will compete on season 24 of Dancing with the Stars. Her participation in the competition has been chastised, with some citing her professional dancing experience as a point of unfair advantage. Morris' decision to cast her in a film by the producers said she did not have ballroom or partnering experience. She was matched with professional dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy, but she performed with troupe member Alan Bersten from the second week of the competition due to Chmerkovskiy's injury in the calf muscle. Morris and Chmerkovskiy returned to dance in the sixth week of the season on April 24, 2017. Despite winning the first perfect score of the season and establishing the results board, they were disqualified.

Morris was proclaimed the champion of the second season of The Masked Dancer (UK) on October 22nd. She appeared on the program as "Scissors" in the story.
