Jason Winfree (born March 22, 1973), also known as Haystak on stage, is an American Southern hip hop musician from Nashville, Tennessee.

Early life

Jason Winfree was born in Trenton, Tennessee, outside of Nashville, and was raised by his grandparents. He was arrested and convicted of bringing Valium and cocaine to school at the age of 15. He was a resident of two years, and when he was unveiled, began a music career. He rapped about his life as so-called "white garbage," debating the cultural aspects of being white and poor in the South.

Career

He began working with rapper Kevin Grisham and Sonny Paradise in the late 1990s and formed Street Flavor, a local rap company. The collaboration culminated in Mak Million, Haystak's 1998 debut album, which was followed two years later by Car Fulla White Boys. Haystak had a large regional audience by this time, and Murder Dog, an underground hardcore hip hop publication, had started promoting his work. The attention attracted Koch Records, who re-released Car Full A White Boys in late summer 2000, after they had signed Haystak and re-released Car Fulla White Boys. Haystak's third album, The Natural, was released two years ago.

Haystak, Inc., released his latest solo album entitled Easy 2 Hate on November 30, 2010.

Haystak is divorced and has two children. He has appeared on Film Hustle & Flow, in addition to rap music, where he played Mickey.

In 2011, Haystak collaborated with fellow Nashville native JellyRoll on the album Strictly Business in 2011 and its sequel Business As Usual in 2013.

Statik G signed Haystak to his record label RhymeSick for a five-year contract in June 2018 and then booked numerous national tours for the remainder of the year into 2019.
