Hansika Motwani was born in Bombay, Maharashtra, to a Sindhi family (present-day Mumbai). Pradeep Motwani is a businessman and her mother, Mona Motwani, is a dermatologist. She attended the Podar International School and the International Curriculum School in Santacruz, both in Mumbai.
Personal life
Hansika is involved in philanthropic causes. She gives financial assistance for children and women who are breast cancer survivors. She is the brand ambassador of Chennai turns Pink, an awareness campaign to raise breast cancer awareness among women.
She converted to Buddhism. "The best way to de-stress for me is to chant Nam Myo Ho Renge Kyo," she said in an interview. According to the actress, chanting has aided her both personally and professionally.

Career
