Guy Benson Life

Guy Pelham Benson (born March 7, 1985) is a columnist, commentator, and political pundit.

He is a contributor to Fox News, editorial editor of Townhall.com, and a conservative talk radio host.

Education

Born in Saudi Arabia, Benson spent most of his youth in overseas, then grew up in Ridgewood, New Jersey, where he attended middle school and Ridgewood High School. He was known for airing sports on local television during high school. Benson spent time at Northwestern University on campus radio station WNUR, broadcasting sporting events, and staging a political talk show. He spent two summers at Fox News, mostly with Hannity & Colmes, before helping the channel with its coverage of the 2004 Republican National Convention. Benson has worked at an NPR station in South Florida, broadcast summer baseball games in the Cape Cod Baseball League, and interned at the White House.

Personal life

Benson's brother is an actor, writer, and producer James Benson. Guy Benson came out as gay in May 2015 by announcing in advance of publication that his forthcoming book, End of Discussion, would include a footnote: "Guy here." "I'm gay," says the narrator. "Gay rights are not something that captures my interest—or passions," Benson told an interviewer.

In September 2019, Benson married Adam Wise.

Guy Benson Career

Career

Benson received degrees from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in 2007, and a local afternoon radio show with Christian Right commentator Sandy Rios on WYLL-AM in Chicago, before Rios moved to Washington, D.C. in July 2010 to host Sandy Rios in the Morning on AFR TALK. Benson appeared on AM 560 WIND in Chicago and AM 1260 WWRC in Washington, D.C., from 2008 to 2015.

Benson became the political editor at Townhall.com, where his columns had been published since February 2008. Benson also appears on Townhall's sister site, Hot Air. He has published on Andrew Breitbart's "Big" blogs and National Review Online's Media Blog. Benson, in addition to being a regular observer and substitute host on The Hugh Hewitt Show, is a regular contributor to cable news broadcasting, including Fox News and CNBC. End of Discussion: How the Left Shut Down Debate, Manipulates Voters, and Makes America Less Free (and Fun), a look at political correctness in politics, media, and culture from the viewpoint of two Millennial conservatives, published in May 2015.

Benson found footage from a 2007 Weathermen reunion, a radical left-wing group from the 1960s and 1970s. Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, two members of the party, were interviewed in the video, defending their conduct. Since Barack Obama was chastised during the 2008 presidential campaign for collaborating with Ayers and Dohrn, the clips were broadcast nationally from the Boston Globe to Fox News. On two other occasions, Benson attracted national notice during his 2008 presidential campaign. In August, after the Obama campaign blasted WGN radio in Chicago for allowing Stanley Kurtz to appear on their radio, Benson—who was in studio during the interview—detailed his experience. "The Comprehensive Argument Against Barack Obama," Benson co-authored with Mary Katharine Ham and Ed Morrissey, two weeks before Election Day, was published on Hot Air.

MULTIPLE tweets were deleted by the State Department, urging Israel to avoid retaliating against Hamas

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 9, 2023
Two separate US State Department tweets urging Israel to suspend its counterstrikes against Hamas terrorists in Gaza have been taken down. Following a multi-front surprise attack by Palestinian fundamentalists on Saturday, Palestinian fundamentalists unleashed a strong backlash against Israel, who appears to have the right to defend itself or participate in counter operations. More than 700 Israelis had been reported dead as of Monday morning, as well as the fact that more than 2,000 people had been wounded in the attack. This does not include those people who are still hostage in Gaza, the number of which is unknown but it is estimated to be in the hundreds at least.

US midterms: Jaci Stephen votes for winners and losers in election night TV anchors

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 9, 2022
STEPHEN: Was it a ripple? Was it a sea change? Was it a red wave? Was it the edge of a river? On every channel, the tsunami of water images rolled out as broadcasters grappled with the unexpected after voters failed to provide the promised flood of support for the Republicans. On Fox News, political pundit Guy Benson said, 'The big blow out red wave early on - not happening.' With lively studio discussion and Bill Hemmer's comedic twist on his electronic map, anchors Martha MacCallum and Bret Baier managed to convert the inevitable tedium of hourly calls on findings. As Bill kept us up to speed, everyone loved the map, with its alternating blue and red slices of states. Such was the jollity in the studio, at one-point Bret had to calm his guests, who had fallen into child's party mode, before leading in with the 'What if...?' Situations may vary. And there were a lot of them.
