Gronkh Life

Erik Range, also known as Gronkh, is a German YouTube influencer, computer game programmer, computer game writer, and entrepreneur best known for launching and releasing the YouTube playthrough video game series Let's Play.

Range developed these games through PlayMassive GmbH, a computer games website, but then stepped back on January 1, 2018.

Gronkh is Germany's most well-known Let's Play video game and Germany's fourth most popular YouTuber.

Life and work

In Braunschweig, Erik Range was born to a German father and a Russian mother. He first gained renown in the computer games market as the guide for Bard characters in Meridian 59's online role playing game Meridian. This is where he first used the gamer tag "Gronkh," which he still uses today. His pseudonym, according to Range, is a portmanteau of the name "Gregor Onkh." PlayMassive GmbH's managing partner and co-founder since 2009. Valentin Matthias Rahmel, the company's co-founder, is Sarazar, who goes by the name Sarazar on the internet. On YouTube, Rahmel collaborates with Range.

Since 2010, Range has regularly released Let's Play videos, in which he discusses his gaming progress. On April 1, 2010; a first video for the online game Allods Online. Since then, he has established himself as one of Germany's most popular German-speaking services. His YouTube channel has over 4 million subscribers and over 1.7 billion video views, making it one of the most popular channels on the internet. He is one of the first commercial German creators and distributors of similar videos. Game developers who want to market for their own goods through collaboration are funding the range's efforts. After the game was released on Range's channel, the game's programmers announced an increase in Edna & Harvey: The Breakout. Gronkh had been registered as a trademark to PlayMassive GmbH at the German Patent and Trademark Office as early as 2012.

Since December 2012, Range has been in a partnership with Tatjana Werth (alias Pandorya).

Range left PlayMassive GmbH in 2018 and took the Gronkh brand with him. He founded Gods of Gaming GmbH, which is part of his own company. Any gamers who were previously employed by PlayMassive GmbH followed him and are now employed by his new firm.

Range has a German broadcasting licence for Gronkh and Gronkh broadcasting stations, but he finds the license to be null. Range was one of several high-profile YouTubers / live streamers threatened by a German authority (the Landesanstalt for Medien NRW) that their online activities necessitate a broadcasting license. He is of the opinion that his trade do not need such a costly license. However, to prevent a long and costly court struggle, he applied for a broadcasting license in October 2017 and was given one in January 2018. He was chastised for giving in to the demands rather than fighting them in court, leading by example. Some of the other potential YouTubers / live streamers chose not to comply by emigrating from Germany or stopping their operations.
