Griffin Andrew McElroy (born April 17, 1987) is an American podcaster, writer, and producer as well as a former video game journalist.

He is best known for his appearances on podcasts such as My Brother, My Brother, and Me, as well as co-founding the video game journalism website Polygon.

Forbes named him a "30 Under 30" media celebrity in 2017.

Early and personal life

McElroy, a young man who served as a co-co-host of WTCR-FM's morning radio show in Huntington, West Virginia, and his wife Leslie, were born in 1987. Griffin McElroy, a student at Marshall University, holds a degree in journalism. He used to live in Chicago. In 2013, he married Rachel McElroy. Career

McElroy's journalism career began in 2007, when he began working as the weekend editor for Joystiq. McElroy served as MTV's local journalist for his home state of West Virginia during the 2008 United States presidential election. In 2012, he left Joystiq in order to discover Polygon, alongside his brother Justin McElroy and Christopher Grant, who went on to become the site's senior video editor. During his time as director, he oversaw a considerable amount of video content for the site, including their Monster Factory series and several let's plays. Griffin and Justin announced their departure from Polygon in 2018 in order to concentrate on their podcasting careers and families.

Griffin McElroy, along with his brothers Justin and Travis, has co-hosted My Brother, My Brother, and Me, a comedy "advice show for the modren [sic] period" on the Maximum Fun network, which has been on television since 2010. The brothers appeared in a 2017 TV show based on the podcast, which originally appeared on Seeso.

The McElroy brothers released The Adventure Zone, a tabletop role-playing game show, in 2014. In later seasons, the show debuted Dungeons & Dragons and then moved to other game platforms. During the first 69 episodes of their first campaign, Griffin McElroy starred as the Dungeon Master and voice of several NPCs. Balance was later promoted to the Monster of the Week by the Apocalypse-based Amnesty movement. He appeared in the show's third campaign, Graduation, as Sir Fitzroy Maplecourt, Knight-in-Absentia of the Realm of Goodcastle. McElroy reprises his role as DM for Ethersea, the show's fourth iteration, as well as the ongoing campaign. He also produced a substantial portion of the original soundtrack for the film.

The first sub-arc of The Adventure Zone: Balance, which was originally published by First Second Books in 2018. The book debuted on The New York Times' best-selling trade fiction list, becoming the first graphic novel to do so. Murder on the Rockport Limited! in 2019; Petals to the Metal in 2020; and The Crystal Kingdom in 2021.

Every American Thanksgiving since 2015, Griffin and his brothers also co-host Til Death Do Us Blart, where they watch and discuss the movie Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 each episode. On April 28, 2020, the podcast aired a bonus episode instead of watching the original Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Both brothers also appear in The McElroy Brothers Will Be In Trolls World Tour, which resulted in the announcement that all three brothers were going to make cameo appearances in the film.

The podcast Wonderful has been hosted by Griffin since 2017. Rachel, his husband, and him, enjoy certain topics they are interested in and enjoy. The two had previously hosted Rose Buddies, in which they recapped episodes of The Bachelor and related television series.

Griffin appeared twice on The George Lucas Talk Show, once during the May 4th, 2020 fundraiser The George Lucas Talk Show is a cable television network. To the next episode of Star Wars Movie Watch Along, which will be released on December 22, 2020.

McElroy has appeared in several animated films, including Clarence, Big City Greens, We Bare Bears, and Camp Camp. He and his brothers also provided voice commentary for the 2017 video game 100ft Robot Golf. The McElroy brothers, Travis and Justin, announced in September 2018 that they would be voicing Skyscraper in the film Trolls World Tour, with Griffin also voicing Country Tear. McElroy was confirmed to be playing a part in The Mitchells vs. the Machines in April 2021, and is listed in the credits as Additional Voices.
