Gregory Alan Williams (born June 12, 1956) is an American actor and author.

In Baywatch, he is known for portraying LAPD Officer Garner Ellerbee.

In the USA Network series Necessary Roughness, Williams played Coach Pat Purnell from 2011 to 2013.

Williams appeared on ABC's Secrets and Lies, then on Greenleaf, and later on 2017's Manhunt: Unabomber.

Life and acting career

Williams, a native of Des Moines, Iowa, graduated from East High School, Coe College, and spent time in the United States Marine Corps before pursuing a career in acting. In the 1988 film Above the Law, he made his acting debut opposite Steven Seagal. Williams was named Garner Ellerbee in Baywatch's following year. He reprised his role in Baywatch Nights, a 1995 spin-off series that premiered in Baywatch before returning to Baywatch in 1996.

Williams appeared on The Sopranos, The District, Army Wives, and Drop Dead Diva since leaving the series in 1998. In addition,, he has appeared in episodes of NYPD Blue, Boston Legal, One Tree Hill, and Meet the Browns, as well as lending his voice to the animated series Aqua Teen Hunger Force. In the comedy series Drop Dead Diva, Williams appeared as Judge Warren Libby from 2009 to 2013. Since 2011, Williams has played Coach Pat Purnell in the USA Network drama series Necessary Roughness.

Williams has appeared in many films, including Remember the Titans (2000), Old School (2004), Be Cool (2005), Dog Days of Summer (2005), Oliver Stone's biopic W. (2008), The Collector (2009), and MacGruber (2010). Williams also stars in the syndicated series Know Your Past and Know Your Roots: A Black College Quiz.
