Greg Travis (born July 31, 1958) is an American stand-up comedian and actor. In which he wears a punk rock-style wig and performs a variety of bad magic tricks based on audience participation, he founded The Punk Magician, a satirist comedy stripe.

Early life
Travis was born in Dallas, Texas, the son of Gerald Travis and Elaine Dennehy-Travis, and Elaine Dennehy-Travis' younger sister; actor Stacey Travis. Travis began competing as a magician and winning many school talent shows at the age of twelve. He also gained the best comedy magician at the Texas Association of Magicians convention in high school, as well as the best comedy magician at the Texas Association of Magicians convention. Travis became vice president of the Thespian Drama Club in his senior year and produced "Joe Dynomite," a feature-length film. In addition, he appeared in several of the school's drama productions. Travis left Richland College for Hollywood, where he attended Sherwood Oaks Film School.
Comedy career
Greg began doing stand-up comedy at The Improv and Comedy Store when he was attending film school. He appeared on "America's Search For Tomorrow's Stars" six months later. "Bud Friedman"s Improvisation" was on display throughout the series. He began appearing on the talk show circuit, Dinah Shore, The Merv Griffin Show, a Steve Allen Special, and Evening at the Improv. Greg was a client of William Morris and Company as his representative. He began small acting roles in film and television, while establishing a strong stand-up routine, headlining at all the major comedy clubs around the country. He appeared on Evening at the Improv in 1986 and 1986, as the opening act for actors like James Brown, Tom Jones, and Dolly Parton. Greg appeared on a Rodney Dangerfield HBO Special in 1990, making his routine The Punk Magician famous. He was the first act for Cher on a long East Coast tour, which culminated in him being the opening act for them.
Greg has appeared on television shows including Surprise Surprise, Thicke of the Night, Showtime Comedy Night, Comedy Club Network, Comic Strip Live, And Walking on the Night, The Tonight Show, Comedy Central, and Lewis Black's Root of All Evil were all evil.
Acting career
In the film Showgirls, Travis was cast in Phil Newkirk's co-starring role. The showgirls were followed by films including Lost Highway, Starship Troopers, Poodle Springs, and Man on the Moon.
Travis also appeared in "America the Bizarre," where he appeared seven different characters in full make-up and costume, with the exception of a dead on impression of Lord Buckley. Filmmaking career
Greg began making short comedies with his New York City based friend David Daniel after film school. “Last Tango in Poland,” “Double Exposure”, “Complainer Vs. Complainer”, “Want Afraid Now”, “Homelessness,” “Willipe”), “The Fine Line of Charlie James” (page 14). Greg Gordon and Steve Bishart co-wrote and co-produced with Greg Directing on a 16mm black-and-white film noir "DARK SEDUCTION," starring Tyler Horn as detective Dic Jones and Victoria Hughie as Vera The Vampiress in 1984. Greg continued to make short videos with fellow Texas and filmmaker Louis Roth, including "Dreamdate," "The Last Date," "Mega Dopes on Punk," "Understand," "Ultra Dopes on Punk," and "Kaptain Komack on The Planet of Death."
Greg was hired to make short films for "Saturday Night Live" titled "Andy Warhols 15 Second Workout" and a Nick Nolte parody "Never Get Out Of Bed" in 1986. Later, Greg produced two music videos, "Immune System Breakdown" and "The Art of Noise," which aired on MTV. Greg directed two independent pilots for CBS and "The Decadants" on Playboy Cable in 1989/90.
Greg has written twenty feature film screen plays as a screenwriter. Paramount, Disney, and HBO were among the three titles on display.
