Glen Bell Life

Glen William Bell Jr. (September 3, 1923 – January 16, 2010) was an American entrepreneur who created the Taco Bell chain of restaurants. Glen Bell, a native of Lynwood, California, graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1941. * During World War II, he served in the US Marine Corps as a cook. *Bell's Drive-In', the Marines' first hot dog stand, opened in San Bernardino in 1948. In 1952, he founded a second location that sold hot dogs and hamburgers. * He started selling tacos at a Taco-Tia taco stand at 19 cents per day from a side window. He opened three Taco Tacos in the San Bernardino area between 1954 and 1955, eventually selling those restaurants and opening four El Tacos with a partner in the Long Beach area. In 1964, Bell's restaurant opened in the United States. * His business expanded rapidly, and the 868-restaurant chain was sold to PepsiCo in 1978 for $125 million in stock.

Fury as Taco Bell quietly reduces the size of its drinks

www.dailymail.co.uk, July 19, 2024
Taco Bell has provoked the ire of its customers by quietly altering its soft drink cup sizes.  Fans of the fast-food staple are reporting that their medium soft drinks have been downsized following a quiet cup change.  One Reddit user, claiming to be a Taco Bell employee posted a side-by-side picture of the old and new medium cups that were rolled out in June on the site.

A popular fast food chain doesn't serve the item it's named after - here's why

www.dailymail.co.uk, July 9, 2024
A much-loved restaurant chain serves customers a huge range of fast food - including hot dogs, burgers and fries. But strangely - despite its name - California-based Wienerschnitzel does not in fact serve a wiener schnitzel on its menus.  The Austrian-originated German delicacy is traditionally a thin cut of breaded and fried veal. In recent time, 'weiner' has been adopted as another name for hotdogs.

Taco Bell receipt from 2012 goes viral as Gen Z can't believe ultra-cheap prices back then - with burritos now THREE TIMES as expensive

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 24, 2024
An old Taco Bell receipt from 2012 has gone viral on social media, revealing the extent to which prices have risen in the last decade. According to the old receipt, two of the chain's beefy five-layer burritos sold for $2.59, plus taxes. These same burritos cost about $3.69 per person today, but they do differ around the country. It's unclear where burritos in the viral video were bought.
