Family and early life

Born in Horizontina, Rio Grande do Sul, Bündchen, a sixth-generation German Brazilian born to Vânia (née Nonnenmacher), a bank clerk pensioner, and Valdir Bündchen, a sociology and writer. Walter Bündchen, her grandfather, was mayor of Horizontina once. Raquel, Graziela, Gabriela, Rafaela, Rafaela, Rafaela, Rafaela, and her fraternal twin, Patrcia, grew up with five sisters.
