Mixed martial arts career
Carano began her career in Muay Thai. Kevin Ross, a pro Muay Thai fighter, was involved in her second-boyfriend. After achieving a record of 12-1, Carano was offered by Jamie Levine to compete in the first-ever sanctioned female MMA bout in Nevada with World Extreme Fighting to defeat Leiticia Pestová (a match that was won in 38 seconds) in Leiticia Pestová. She was invited to compete in Las Vegas against Rosi Sexton at the World Pro Combat show. Carano won the match by knocking Sexton out late in the second round.
On December 8, 2006, Carano confronted Elaina Maxwell at Strikeforce: Triple Threat. She was voted unanimously in the fight. Carano was proved wrong by defeating Maxwell for the second time; the first victory in a Muay Thai match was inconvenient. It was the first female fight in Strikeforce. She fought on the Showtime EliteXC card on February 10, 2007, defeating Julie Kedzie by a unanimous decision in what was described as the "Fight of the Night." The contest was the first nationally broadcast female match on Showtime. She's back for the EliteXC/K-1 Dynamite to face Jan Finney in the EliteXC/K-1 Dynamite! Due to sickness, the USA's event on June 2, 2007 was postponed. When attending a World Extreme Cagefighting festival as a spectator, the Fight Network and other news outlets reported that she was rushed to the hospital by ambulance for dehydration.
Carano competed on the Showtime EliteXC card in September 15, 2007, where she defeated Tonya Evinger by submission for her first career victory by submission. Carano wowed critics by standing on the ground until presenting Evinger late in the first round. On May 31, 2008, Carano defeated former HOOKnSHOOT champion Kaitlin Young at EliteXC: Primetime. Carano struggled to gain weight for her fight the day before being weighed in at 144.5 pounds (65.5 kg). Although most MMA gyms had set weight classes at 135 lb (61 kg) and 145 lb (66 kg) (featherweight), EliteXC decided to create a women's weight class at 170 pounds (64 kg). Carano decided to forfeit 12.5% of her "show" purse to Young, but the show continued on the track.
There was a lot of debate over whether Carano would make weight for the fight ahead of her fight against Kelly Kobold, as she had only been fighting only once in the last year and had failed to gain weight. Carano had assured critics that she would be able to make weight since she had recruited a dietician to help with her dieting. Carano weighed in at 142.75 pounds (64.75 kg) at the weigh-in for the Kobold fight on October 3, 2008, weighing in at 142.75 pounds (64.75 kg) for her first attempt. A towel-covered Carano weighed in at 142.5 pounds (64.6 kg) after removing her clothing for the second time. The towel was removed, and Carano weighed 141 pounds (64 kg) and gained weight on her third attempt.
Early on, Kobold was determined on hammering Carano in the clinch, while waiting for the takedown throughout the war. In the second round, Kobold had a knockdown, but the round was over before she could take advantage of it. Carano had a chance to strike Kobold at every turn as the fighters broke apart, even though she opened a massive gash on the inside of her opponent's eyebrow. Carano looked to end the match with a head kick that landed flush on Kobold's chin, but Kobold stayed on her feet as the match came to a close. Carano was the recipient of a unanimous decision (30–27, 30–27, and 29–28).
Strikeforce, along with other fighters in the defunct promotion, became contractually linked to Strikeforce after many months of confusion about their free agent status.
Carano's fight against Cris Cyborg will be held in Strikeforce: Lawler vs. Shields on August 15, 2009, according to Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg. Strikeforce held their first Women's Championship for the first time in history. Despite the fact that the 145-pound division is most commonly thought of as featherweight, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker said that the Strikeforce Women's Lightweight Championship would be branded as the Strikeforce Women's Lightweight Championship. The Strikeforce Women's Middleweight Championship was later renamed as the Strikeforce Middleweight Championship. In the first round, Carano lost by TKO at 4:59, her first loss in her pro MMA career.
Carano hasn't competed since August 2009 and hasn't been scheduled for any forthcoming events. Carano is still under the UFC's old Strikeforce deal and has four fights left on the deal.
Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker expressed apprehension that she would return in 2011. Carano's return to San Diego was confirmed in February 2011, but Strikeforce announced on Monday that she would face Sarah D'Alelio against him on June 18, at the Overeem vs. Werdum Strikeforce festival in Dallas. Zuffa, who have been detractors of women's MMA in the past, would have fought in this bout. Carano's marketability, according to critics, was the reason for the revival. The war, on the other hand, was not waged. Strikeforce revealed Carano failed her pre-fight medical exam, and the match was suspended from the agenda. Later, the Athletic Commission had medically cleared Carano, but the Athletic Commission had to withdraw it from the program for other reasons.
Carano said she was considering returning to MMA after an appearance on The Arsenio Hall Show in April 2014. Dana White of the United FC announced in September 2014 that contract talks with Carano had stalled. Ronda Rousey said that a fight between Gina Carano and her had been planned for December 2014 but that no one appeared on the Joe Rogan Experience 690 podcast, but that she had never materialized.
Television and film career
Carano appeared in Ring Girls, a 2005 film. Ring Girls is a fast-paced story about five American women from Las Vegas who face the world's best Muay Thai fighters. Carano, alongside Lisa King, served as a mentor to aspiring fighters in the 2007 Oxygen reality series Fight Girls. She appeared on "Crush" on NBC's show American Gladiators, in which she appeared alongside Monica Carlson (Jet), Jennifer Widerstrom (Phoenix), Tanoai Reed (Toa), and Don "Hollywood" Yates (Wolf). Carano landed the leading role in the spy thriller film Haywire (2011), directed by Steven Soderbergh, in September 2009. Carano's martial-arts experience gives her "unique physical appearance" in the role, according to Newsweek. Michael Fassbender, a co-star, characterized her knockout fight: she said she and her co-star Michael Fassbender told it a knockout fight:
Carano appeared in In the Blood (2014), John Stockwell's action drama. As a husband and his wife, played by Carano, disappears while holidaying in the Caribbean with his wife, the film is set in motion. The narrative wife of the deceased insists that the man was kidnapped and killed. "This role will highlight not only Gina's combat abilities, but also her acting skills as her character struggles to [rein] in her violent past," Stockwell said.
Carano was lead in an all-female ensemble action film, tentatively named The Expendables, which would have been a part of the Expensibles film series. "I don't know how I'm supposed to make a film that is supposed to be the female version of The Expendables without Gina Carano in it," producer Adi Shankar said. It's like making Twix without caramel or Jamba Juice without Jamba." The scheme has yet to materialize.
Carano appeared in Fast & Furious 6 (2013) as a member of Special Agent Luke Hobbs' (Dwayne Johnson) Diplomatic Security Service team. Several commentators applauded Carano's success; Richard Roeper of the Chicago Sun-Times wrote, "Gina Carano is great to watch." [She] is still a little stilted in her line readings, but Michelle Rodriguez' two epic battle scenes with Michelle Rodriguez are just amazing." While Collider.com's Matt Goldberg predicted that the event would "spawn a lot of new Gina Carano followers."
Carano and comic book creator Rob Liefeldt confirmed they were collaborating on a big-screen version of Liefied's Avengelyne in which Carano will appear as a fallen angel, a person who protects mankind from demons and other animals. Carano appeared in the Fox series "Unbound" from 2013 to 2014, where she appeared in a role as Danica, an XRN war android. Angel Dust appeared in the 2016 film Deadpool, and she co-starred in the 2015 film Extraction.
In December 2018, she was announced as part of Lucasfilm's first live-action Star Wars television series The Mandalorian. Cara Dune appeared in the fourth episode of the first season's "Chapter 4: Sanctuary" for the first time. Carano initially thought she'd be playing the role of a female Wookiee, but she was shocked to learn that "She" was one of the few people you'd actually see. She appeared in seasons 1 and 2.
Gina Carano will appear on an episode of Running Wild with Bear Grylls in February 2021. In May 2021, the episode premiered.
Carano was selected to appear as a private service agent in My Son Hunter, a documentary directed by Robert Davi on Hunter Biden. The film is currently on hold until its release.
Following a series of inflammatory messages she posted on social media, Lucasfilm announced in 2021 that Carano would not appear in future Star Wars programs. During the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, she mocked the use of face masks during the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, as well as repeated assertions of voter manipulation during the 2020 presidential election.
Carano argued on Twitter with activists who complained about her lack of public support for the Black Lives Matter campaign in late 2020, causing some to accuse her of bigotry.
Several weeks later, after receiving calls from some followers to include her preferred gender pronouns in her Twitter profile, she added the phrase "beep/boop." Critics dismissed this as ridicule, sparking accusations of transphobia. Later apologized and deleted them, saying that Mandalorian actor Pedro Pascal had helped her understand the use of preferred pronouns.
Carano compared "hating someone for their political convictions" to the persecution of Jews during the Holocaust in February 2021, as well as an image taken during the Lviv pogroms. Many commentators mistook the article for comparing American conservatives to Jews in Nazi Germany. Carano was no longer employed by the corporation, according to Lucasfilm, "her social media messages congratulating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and intolerable." United Talent Agency's United Talent Agency had her expelled on the same day. Carano wrote an article in February 2022 describing her offending post, saying she "shared a meme, I translated it into: Don't let the government pit you against each other, or history tells us that it could go wrong." Any fans and commentators compared Carano's dismissal with fellow Mandalor cast member Pedro Pascal, who had no regrets for comparing the treatment of Jews in concentration camps and the care of undocumented migrant children at ICE detention facilities in the United States.
Carano revealed that she'd be composing, producing, and starring in a new film project with conservative media company The Daily Wire this week. The film, White Knuckle, was supposed to be about revenge by a survivor of a serial murderer truck driver's attempted murder. In October 2021, Tennessee, Utah, and Montana were supposed to begin filming. It was planned to be distributed exclusively to subscribers of The Daily Wire in the United States, and Voltage Pictures was going to be released globally.
White Knuckle had been barred from Carano's behest by fall 2021 because of her inability to comply with Hollywood's COVID-19 mask and vaccination regulations. "The Hollywood unions began debating vaccine restrictions for actors and crews when we announced our first project this summer," she said, and I wasn't interested in that." I don't believe anyone gets to make your medical decisions for you, and I'm not about to order masks and vaccines on someone else." Jeremy Boreing, co-founder and co-CEO of Daily Wire, recalled Carano's plea to "find a different film" and her response, "To hell with it, I'll leave my union." Let's make a movie in Montana, where they can't get after us." On the Prairie, the group started working on the replacement film, titled Terror on the Prairie.
Carano said in February 2022 that the war in Ukraine was a government plot to seize the public through fear, and that "they" had "lost sight of the covid narrative."
