Georgia Taylor (born Claire Jackson, 20 February 1980) is an English actress best known for her appearances as Toyah Battersby in the ITV soap opera Coronation Street (2004-present), as Ruth Winters on the BBC soap opera Coronation Street (2007–2011) and as Kate Barker in Law & Order: United Kingdom (2013–14).
Early life
Taylor was born Claire Jackson in Wigan, Greater Manchester, on February 26, 1980. As an adolescent, she attended the Willpower Youth Theatre in Wigan.
Personal life
Taylor and her longtime companion, actor Mark Letheren, who was on the set of Casualty, live in Bristol.
Career
Taylor began playing Toyah Battersby in Coronation Street in 1997. In 2001, she received the Best Dramatic Performance British Soap Award for her role in Toyah. She appeared on episodes of Where the Heart Is, New Street Law, Lilies, Red Cap, and Life on Mars since she first appeared on the BBC's The Afternoon Play series and Life on Mars.
Taylor will be returning to Coronation Street as Toyah Battersby in September 2016. She played a part in the episode that aired on Christmas Day 2016.
She appeared with Duncan Bannatyne in the Tyne Tees Television comedy pilot Girls' Club in 2003. Taylor appeared in the Golden Globe nominated series Blackpool and its sequel Viva Blackpool for BBC One in 2004 and 2006.
Taylor appeared in The Woman Before the Royal Court in May 2005 opposite Helen Baxendale. Miles Away at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester received rave reviews for her role in Christmas.
Taylor appeared Fiona in the film version of The History Boys in 2006. She appeared in a 2008 short film Soul Shutter and also appeared in the 2008 film The Bank Job. Dakota of the White Flats by Phillip Ridley is one of her radio appearances.
In September 2007, Taylor joined the cast of BBC One medical drama Casualty as a series regular Ruth Winters.
She and co-star Ben Turner, who played her main love interest in the film, left Casualty in December 2011.
