George Salazar (born March 7, 1986) is an American actor, singer, and guitarist who hails from Orlando, Florida.

Early life and education
Salazar is a native of Kissimmee, Florida. He was born in Orlando, Florida. Jonah's mother, Jonah, is Filipino, and his father, George, is Ecuadorian. Salazar spent his youth focusing on pursuing a career as a doctor but then moved his attention to theater in his last two years of high school. He studied at the University of Florida, where he majored in Musical Theatre after graduating high school. He earned his BFA degree in Musical Theatre from the University of Florida in 2008. He moved to New York City shortly after to continue his acting career. He is also an expert on drumkit and cajón.
Acting career
In the second national tour of the Tony Award-winning musical Spring Awakening in 2010, Salazar's first break came in 2010. In May 2011, the production toured the United States as well as Canada and closed in May 2011. Salazar received his Actors' Equity Association membership upon returning to New York City after touring.
Salazar appeared in the 40th anniversary Broadway revival of Stephen Schwartz's Godspell in September 2011. He was the "Light of the World" soloist, debuting in the revival, on Broadway. The performance opened on November 7, 2011, and it was ended on June 24, 2012, after 30 previews and 264 performances. In 2012, Sh-Boom Records released a cast album. During Godspell's reign, he and the majority of the cast made television appearances on the Late Show with David Letterman, The Rosie Show, and the Tony Awards telecast.
Salazar continued his passions for theatre and music as a cast member and singer in F#%king Up Everything's Off-Broadway production in the spring of 2013. He spent time as the musical's on-stage drummer in addition to being the stoner drummer of a rock band. This role was later revived in 2016 when the musical changed its name to Brooklyn Crush.
