Club career
Puşcaş made his Internazionale debut on February 1, 2015 by appearing in the final minutes of a 3–1 loss to Sassuolo in the 2014–15 Serie A matchday 21. He made his UEFA Europa League debut as a substitute in the 89th minute of a 1–0 home victory over Celtic on February 26, 2015. Pușcaş played his first match as a starter for Internazionale on April 4, 2014, a 1–1 home draw against Parma, and Mateo Kova jumped in the 46th minute.
Pușcaș and his colleague Gaston Camara were released on loan at Serie B for the 2015–16 season on August 4, 2015. In the 60th minute of Bari's 2–1 home loss to Foggia in the second round of Coppa Italia on August 9, he made his Bari debut as a replacement, replacing Anthony Partipilo. In the 4–1 away loss to Crotone on September 22, he played his first Serie B match later in the season, starting and playing for 57 minutes. Pușcaş was loaned to Benevento's Serie B side on a 2-year loan contract, which was effective on July 15th. After a 0–0 home draw against Salernitana in the second round of Coppa Italia, he made his debut on August 7th in a match loss 4–2 at penalties; after a 0–0 draw in the second round of Coppa Italia, he was replaced by Fabio Mazzeo in the 68th minute. He started playing on Serie B for Benevento in the 71st minute and scored his first goal 8 minutes later in a 2–0 home win over SPAL on August 27. Puşcaş signed for Reading on a five-year Inter Milan contract for €8 million plus €2 million in bonuses on August 7, 2019, becoming Reading's most costly signing in history. On August 13, 2019, he scored his first goal for Reading in an EFL Cup match against Wycombe Wanderers, and he also scored one of the penalties as Reading defeated Reading won the shoot-out. On his home league debut against Cardiff City on August 18, 2019, he scored two goals against Cardiff City. International career
Pușcaş may have portrayed Hungary via naturalization, considering his Hungarian ancestry. Sándor Egervári, the then-Hungarian head coach, went to watch him play in the Romanian second division in 2013, but decided against it in the reason that there are already players of his ability in Hungary.
Pușcaş scored seven times for Romania under 21 in the 2019 European Championship qualifiers, winning his division and progressing to the final tournament in Italy. In a 4–1 victory over Croatia over 18 June 2019, he received the penalty for which he scored the opener. He scored again in England's next group game against England, defeating Ionuţ Luciuciu as the highest scorer of the Tricolorii mici. After scoring a double against Germany in the semi-finals, Pușcaș gave Romania a half-time lead, but Romania eventually lost the match 4–2.
Puşcaș earned his first full cap for Romania on May 23, 2018, in the 74th minute of a 3–2 victory over Chile in the 74th minute. In a 3–0 UEFA Nations League victory over Lithuania on November 17, he scored his first goal in that year.
