Gene Hatcher Career

Amateur career

Hatcher was the Amateur Champion of the United States. He became the National AAU Welterweight Champion in 1980.

Early professional career

His first victory came against former WBC super featherweight champion Alfredo Escalera in 1982, when he won a ten-round contest. Tyrone Crawley, his next big rival, was defeated by a ten-round decision. He began with a match against Escalera in 1983. Hatcher was disqualified in round six and later lost a unanimous ten-round match.

Post-championship career

Hatcher continued to fight after losing to Honeyghan. He had seven fights in his career, losing two of them (one of which was to future world champion Aaron Davis). Hatcher retired after a triumph over Juan Martin Galvan in 1995.

Hatcher has seen 32 fights and lost 7, with 23 wins out of 31.
