Gelila Bekele Life

Tyler Perry (born Emmitt Perry Jr., 1969) is an American actor, writer, producer, comedian, and director.

Forbes named him as the highest paid man in entertainment in 2011, earning $130 million USD between May 2010 and May 2011. Perry created and performed the Madea character, a tough elderly black woman.

Perry's films range in style from traditional filmmaking techniques to filmed productions of live stage plays.

Many of Perry's stage-play films have since been made into films. During the 1990s and early 2000s, Perry wrote and produced many stage plays.

Perry has produced several television series, most notable Tyler Perry's House of Payne, which appeared on TBS from June 21, 2006 to August 10, 2012.

Perry began a long-term relationship with Oprah Winfrey and her Oprah Winfrey Network on October 2, 2012.

The alliance was largely for the sake of scripted television, based on Perry's previous successes in this sector.

Perry has produced several scripted series for the network, The Haves and the Have Nots being the most popular.

As of 2014, the Haves and the Have Nots has received the highest ratings to date, with the series also listed as "one of OWN's top success stories" due to its weekly dose of soapy fun, filled with the usual betrayals, affairs, and manipulations. "Perry has also appeared in films not directed or produced by himself, including Admiral Barnett in Star Trek (2009), Tanner Bolt in Gone Girl (2014), Baxter Stockman in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2016) and Colin Powell in Vice (2018)."

Early life

Willie Maxine Perry (née Campbell), and Emmitt Perry Sr., a carpenter, were born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He has three siblings. He once said that his father's answer to all was to "beat it out of you." Perry even went so far as to attempt suicide in an attempt to escape his father's beatings as a child. His father took him to church every week, where he felt a certain peace and contentment. In an attempt to distance himself from his father, Emmitt was legally changed to Tyler at age 16.

Perry was pushed to reveal that he had been molested by a friend's mother at the age of ten, and later discovered that his own father had molested his sister. Emmitt Sr. was not Perry's biological father, according to a DNA test performed by Perry.

Although Perry did not complete high school, he obtained a GCED (GED). In his early 20s, he heard someone talk about the sometimes curative effect of writing, allowing the writer to explore his or her own difficulties. Inspired by this comment, he's decided to dedicate himself to a writing career. He began writing a series of letters to himself, which became the basis of the musical I've Been Changed.

Personal life

Perry is a Christian. He has made good friends with Janet Jackson, Will Smith, and Oprah Winfrey. Many of the themes in his work resemble theology and socioeconomic environment that characterize the mainly black church tradition, such as the numerous scenes in both his stage and screen production that feature church settings and worship styles typical of African American churches, as well as exhibits of gospel music and artists.

Perry purchased a 17-acre home in Buckhead, Georgia's Paces neighborhood in 2007. He sold the house for $17.5 million in May 2016, closing the highest private home auction in the Georgia capital ever. ETPC LLC, a New Manchester, Georgia company, purchased around 1,100 acres (4.5 km2) in the New Manchester, Georgia area of Douglas County, Georgia, in 2013.

After finding that a suburban swim club, the Valley Swim Club in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania, had shunned them, Perry sponsored 65 children from a Philadelphia day camp to Walt Disney World on July 20, 2009. "I want them to know that for every act of violence that a few people will throw at you," he wrote on his website.

Willie Maxine Perry Perry, Perry's mother, died at the age of 64 in 2009 after an illness. He lives and works in Southwest Atlanta, where he runs the Tyler Perry film and television studios. He had purchased Dean Gardens, a 58-acre estate in Johns Creek, Georgia, in August 2010. He tore down the existing 32,000-square-foot (3,000 m2) mansion and designed, but there was never designed or constructed a new, environmentally friendly home on the property.

Perry's partner, Gelila Bekele, gave birth to their son on November 30, 2014. Perry revealed in December 2020 that he was a single bachelor.

Perry bought a house in Mulholland Estates, a gated community in Los Angeles, in September 2017.

Perry owns vacation homes in both Wyoming and the Bahamas.

Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex and Meghan, and Meghan Duchess of Sussex revealed in a television interview with Oprah and Harry that Perry provided initial security and housing for three months, allowing the couple to safely move from Canada to California in March 2020.

Gelila Bekele Career

Career

Perry, who died in Atlanta in 1990, performed I've Been Changed at a community theater, financed by the 22-year-old Perry's $12,000 life savings. The play included Christian themes of forgiveness, dignity, and self-worth, as well as other topics such as child violence and dysfunctional families. The musical's first performance was a financial disappointment and attracted a "less than stellar" reception. Perry continued to write the script and rewrote the script over the next six years, but poor reviews persisted. In 1998, he succeeded in retooling the play and restaging it in Atlanta, first at the House of Blues and then at the Fox Theatre. Perry continued to produce new stage performances, touring with them on the so-called "Chitlin' Circuit" (also known as the "urban theater circuit") and gaining a large, dedicated following among African-American audiences. In 2005, Forbes reported that he had sold "more than $100 million in tickets, $30 million in videos of his performances, and an estimated $20 million in merchandise," and "the 300 live shows he produces each year are watched by an average of 35,000 people a week."
