Early life and education
Colonel Sam Lloyd Hunnicutt and Mary Virginia Hunnicutt's daughter was born in Fort Worth, Texas. Hunnicutt received a scholarship from the University of California, Los Angeles, to study English literature and theatre. She began as a fashion model and then became an actress.
Personal life
Hunnicutt married British actor David Hemmings, with whom she had a son, Nolan Hemmings, on November 16, 1968; they divorced in 1975. In 1978, Hunnicutt married journalist Simon Jenkins. The couple lived in Primrose Hill, London, where they raised their son Edward. In the 2004 New Year Awards, Jenkins was named a Knight Bachelor for services to journalism. They divorced in 2009. Richard Evans, the Daily Telegraph's tennis reporter, began dating her in 2010.
Career
Hunnicutt was portrayed as a brunette sexpot throughout her film career. In two episodes of The Beverly Hillbillies in 1966, she portrayed Emaline Fetty, a con woman trying to extort money from the Clambillies. In the detective film Marlowe (1969), in which her role was a glamorous Hollywood actress, she co-starred with James Garner.
Hunnicutt was able to use the finer aspects of her acting when she and husband David Hemmings came to England in 1970. Fragment of Fear (1970) and Voices (1973), she and Hemmings co-starred in two horror films in the early 1970s, Fragment of Fear (1970) and Voices (1973). Charlotte Stant appeared in Jack Pulman's television adaptation of Henry James' novel The Golden Bowl (1972). In the television miniseries Fall of Eagles (1974), she played Lionel's wife (1973) and Tsarina Alexandra (1974). In the first episode of Sherlock Holmes' television series "A Scandal in Bohemia," she appeared as Irene Adler, opposite Jeremy Brett. In another Marlowe mystery in an episode of HBO's Private Eye (1983), this time starring Powers Boothe. She appeared in the thriller Target (1985), co-starring Gene Hackman and Matt Dillon. In 1989, Hunnicutt returned to the United States to play Vanessa Beaumont in Dallas until 1991.
