Fred Ewanuick [?

Wa?n?k] (born June 23, 1971) is a Canadian actor of Ukrainian and Italian roots, best known for his appearance in the television series Corner Gas as Hank Yarbo and as the principal protagonist of the CTV sitcom Dan for Mayor.

Robson Arms, a regular in a CTV anthology series, was also a regular character.

He appeared in Nickelodeon's summer 2013 television film Swindle. He is also known for his many accolades for his 2003 lead role in The Delicate Art of Parking, as Richard Henry "Hank" Yarbo in Corner Gas: The Movie, winning him a Gemini Award and much laud.

He appeared in films including The Santa Clause 2, Just Friends, Young Triffie, and a romantic comedy with several other Corner Gas actors in Love and Other Dilemmas and Absolute Zero.

Early life

Ewanuick was born and raised in Port Moody, British Columbia, Canada. He is of Ukrainian and Italian descent. His first job was a paper route, but he was fired for throwing the newspapers in dumpsters as a "time saver." He continued working in a bingo hall until his high school graduation from Port Moody Secondary School in 1989.

He enrolled in English, Women's Studies, and Theatre, the only courses available at the time, but after that failed both three programs. He was asked to leave one year early after auditioning and being accepted into the two-year intensive theater program. He went on to study in Vancouver, British Columbia, where he also lives. Shea Hampton, his acting coach, continued to work for four years.

He made his television debut on The New Addams Family in 1998 as a "spinning gnome." Ewanuick became a regular on the CTV series Corner Gas, following guest appearances on both Canadian and American television series such as Cold Squad, Monk, Dark Angel, The Twilight Zone, Da Vinci's Inquest, and Tru Calling. The series was a hit, with Ewanuick becoming a familiar face in Canadian households. He debuted in 2005 with Corner Gas co-star Gabrielle Miller and Craig Ferguson.

Ewanuick has appeared in a number of films, including The Delicate Art of Parking (2003), which premiered at the Montreal World Film Festival. The film was selected for the Best Canadian Feature Award. Later that year, Ewanuick received the Best Actor award at the Peiscola Comedy Film Festival in Spain for the same film. Ewanuick plays a young Newfoundland Ranger investigating a homicide in the comedy Young Triffie (2007). Ewanuick was not intended for the role at first. However, the casting team was unable to decide who to choose for the role. After being accepted for the role because of his work on Corner Gas, Ewanuick was called to audition for the part.

Danfor Mayor, a half-hour sitcom pilot starring Ewanuick as Dan, was ordered by CTV in late 2008. Mark Farrell, Paul Mather, and Kevin White wrote Dan For Mayor. Dan, a 30-something bartender who lives and works in Wessex, Ontario, was depicted by Ewanuick. In 2011, the show came to an end.

In 2013, he appeared in Swindle as Paul Swindell.

In 2014, Ewanuick reprised his role as Hank Yarbo in Corner Gas: The Movie.

In the Burnaby 8 Rinks Weekend Hockey League Division C1A playoffs, Ewanuick was the champion goalie in the Burnaby 8 Rinks Weekend Hockey League Division C1A playoffs.
