Frank Ferrer (born March 25, 1966) is an American rock drummer.
Ferrer is best known as the drummer for American rock band Guns N' Roses, with whom he has played, toured, and recorded since 2006.
Ferrer was also a member of The Psychedelic Furs, Love Spit Love as well as The Beautiful.
He has recorded and worked with several high profile musicians including Robi "Draco" Rosa, Tool, Gordon Gano, PJ Harvey, Tommy Stinson, Nena, Frank Black of The Pixies, Neil Young, Perry Farrell and Cheetah Chrome of The Dead Boys.
Personal life
Ferrer was born March 25, 1966, to Cuban parents and raised in New York. His father was a carpenter and Latin percussionist. At age 11, Ferrer saw KISS in concert at Madison Square Garden and fell in love with rock music.
Ferrer's daughter Olivia was a member of the indie-pop band Supercute!.
Career
Ferrer, a member of The Beautiful, a New York-based band. Ferrer, as well as Jonathan Lacey on vocals and guitar, and bassist Perry Bottke were in the band. In 1990, the band unveiled a self-titled EP and a full-length album Storybook in May 1992.
Ferrer joined Love Spit Love in 1992. Until The Psychedelic Furs were on hiatus, Richard Butler, Ferrer and Richard Fortus formed the band. Love Spit Love's self-titled album Love Spit Love in 1994 and Trysome Eatone in 1997. Ferrer also appeared on demos for Dripping Goss' album Gift of Demise during this period. Ferrer appeared on the touring version of The Psychedelic Furs from 2001 to 2008. (Along with Fortus)
Ferrer is a drummer for The Compulsions, a New York City band. Rob Carlyle on vocals and rhythm guitar, Guns N' Roses member Richard Fortus on lead guitar, and bassist Sami Yaffa of Hanoi Rocks and The New York Dolls are among the band's members. Beat The Devil, the band's first full-length studio album, was released in 2011.
Frank Ferrer joined Guns N' Roses in July 2006 to replace Bryan "Brain" Mantia, who had returned to the United States after his wife had a child. Tommy Stinson and Richard Fortus, who Ferrer had both performed with in the past, reached out to Ferrer to fill the drum position. Ferrer appeared at Graspop Metal Meeting in Dessel, Belgium, on June 24, 2006. Ferrer, who had hoped to be only a touring drummer filling in for two weeks, became the official drummer in late 2006. "Chinese Democracy," "Better," "If the World," "If the World," "There Was a Time" and "I.R.S." The album Chinese Democracy was released.
Ferrer toured with the group until the end of the Chinese Democracy Tour, as well as Up Close and Personal Tour & Appointe for Democracy Tour. He currently tours with the band as part of the Not in This Lifetime... Tour, which features classic era members Slash and Duff McKagan.
