Frank Buglioni Career

Amateur career

Buglioni began boxing at the age of 14 to improve his endurance and strength, his first priority at the time being football. Buglioni joined the Waltham Forest Amateur Boxing Club, and after winning his first four battles, it was decided that he would train at Repton Boxing Club in Bethnal Green under the tutelage of head coach Tony Burns.

Buglioni won 60 and losing 10, with over half of his victories coming from knockouts. He won two national titles and also gained several medals, despite representing his country in international tournaments, including a silver medal against world number one Vijender Singh in the Commonwealth Federations Tournament in Delhi in 2010.

In 2010, Buglioni was chosen to train with the Great Britain Olympic team. However, the following year, he decided to go professional.

Professional career

Buglioni, Nicknamed "The Wise Guy," made his professional debut in November 2011, defeating Sabie Montieth in the first round. He won his first ten fights before defeating Stepan Horvath in the eighth round in November 2013 to capture the WBO European super middleweight championship. He defended the title three months later against Gaetano Nespro but lost it in April 2014 after Sergey Khobek was intercepted.

Sam Couzens defeated him in four rounds to take the vacant BBBofC Southern Area super middleweight crown three months later. With a unanimous decision over Andrew Robinson, the former champion of the WBO European Championships, he regained the WBO European title in November. He made two more defenses (a first round stoppage of Ivan Jukic and a draw with Lee Markham) before defeating Fernando Castaneda in July 2015 to claim the vacant WBA International super middleweight title.

At Wembley Arena in September 2015, Chudinov qualified for Fedor Chudinov's WBA World super middleweight title; Chudinov took the entire 12 rounds with Chudinov winning convincing points.

In 2016, Buglioni went down to light heavyweight, defeating journeyman Olegs Fedotovs in the first round in March.

Buglioni fought Hosea Burton in a close 12 round match on December 10, 2016, under the auspices of Anthony Joshua vs. Éric Molina. Buglioni was down on the scorecards as he entered the 12th and saw him win the game catapulting himself forwards in the rankings. It was one of the major sporting wars of 2016.

Buglioni was trained by Mark Tibbs at the TRAD TKO Boxing Gym in Canning Town before heading to work with Irish boxing brothers Paschal Collins and former world champion Steve Collins at the Celtic Warrior Boxing Gym in Dublin, Ireland. Don Charles, the narrator, took over as his successor in 2016.

Buglioni met Ricky Summers in his first defense of the British light heavyweight title. Buglioni was too much for Summers and took the grand prize on points in the end, but the summers were not too hot, and he lost the competition on points.

Buglioni was supposed to face undefeated Callum Johnson in his nascent fight. Johnson, on the other hand, was shot and killed just moments before the fight. Craig Richards, a determined Brit, was brought to him. Buglioni won by a unanimous vote.

In a fight for both the British and Commonwealth light heavyweight titles, Buglioni and Callum Johnson finally squared off on March 24th. In the first round, Johnson knocked Buglioni down and ended him via TKO.

Frank met Fanlong Meng from China on November 24, 2018, who was undefeated and ranked #1 by the IBF and was ranked as the best fighter in the world. Buglioni was unable to connect with the savvy defensive Meng in the early rounds. Buglioni sustained a cut above his right eye as the game progressed, and the doctor called for a break to look at the cuts. The fight was initially revived, but the doctor was forced to pull the fight with 1:58 seconds to go into the fifth round.

Buglioni revealed that he would officially retire from boxing at the age of 29. "I have decided to take off the gloves after careful deliberation." I am proud of all my achievements in boxing, and I will be forever grateful for the life lessons and positive effects it has given me." Buglioni was described as part of his official address, according to him.
