Filipe Luís Kasmirski (born 9 August 1985), known as Filipe Luís (Brazilian Portuguese: [fi'lipi lu'is]), is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a left back for Flamengo and the Brazil national team. A player of tireless approach also known for his tactical awareness, he spent most of his early professional career in Spain, beginning at Deportivo where he spent four seasons.

In 2010 he joined Atlético Madrid, and won four trophies including the La Liga championship in 2014.

He signed with Chelsea in July of that year for £15.8 million, helping them to both the Premier League and the League Cup, but lack of game time in London saw him return to Atlético a year later, winning the Europa League and Super Cup in his second spell (both in 2018). Filipe Luís made his debut for Brazil in 2009 and went on to earn over 40 caps, representing the nation at the 2013 Confederations Cup, three Copas América and the 2018 World Cup, winning the Confederations Cup as well as the 2019 Copa América.

Personal life

All four of Filipe Luís' grandparents were European immigrants, who came to Santa Catarina. His paternal grandfather left Poland during World War I. He is also of Italian ancestry.

In 2014, Filipe Luís' second child, a daughter named Sara, was born. He also fathered a son the previous year, Tiago.

Club career

Filipe Luss was born in Jara do Sul, Santa Catarina. He came from Figueirense FC as an attacking midfielder and played his first European football with AFC Ajax in 2004, and spent one season in the Beloften Eskimos as a reserve. Danny Blind called him up for his first team twice for an Equality Cup match against FC Den Bosch and a UEFA Cup match against AJ Auxerre, but he remained on the bench for both games. Despite not playing in a competitive match, he praised the Dutch club for teaching him tactical aspects of the game as well as supporting his growth by allowing him to train with players like Rafael van der Vaart and Wesley Sneijder.

Filipe Luis was first registered under C.A. Rentistas was a business man who had a relationship with his agent Juan Figer. In August 2005, he was loaned to Real Madrid for the entire season with the B team in Segunda División; the move was not made permanent due to a lack of funding from the Uruguayan club.

Filipe Luz joined Deportivo de La Corua in August 2006, with a buyout clause of $2.2 million. In his first season, he did not have many opportunities in his first season, but his loan was financed for a second year with the same buy-out guarantee. In 2007,-08, after first-choice Joan Capdevila's departure to Villarreal CF, he went on to establish himself as the first-choice left-back.

The player's three-year deal was signed just two days after arriving, saying, "This move is a dream come true for me." I now have the opportunity to play for Chelsea and also in the Premier League. "I'm excited and eager to get off and giving my best for the team during the coming seasons."

Filipe Ludford made his pre-season friendly against Wolfsberger AC on July 23, 2014. Ashley Cole, who had just moved to A.S. Roma, was named as number three on his squad, instead of three. He was an ineffective substitute in his team's first match of the season, away from Burnley, with César Azpilicueta playing at left back, and later said he was content to be second choice behind his teammates if they were playing well, comparing his situation to that of Thibaut Courtois' veteran goalkeeper Petr ech.

Filipe Lu's made his league debut in the third round, winning by seven minutes over a 6–3 victory over Everton over Eden Hazard on August 30th. He began on September 17th in the first group stage match against FC Schalke 04; with Azpilicueta suspended, he got his first game against FC Schalke 04; he got his first game against Manchester United on October 26th, a 1–1 draw away from Manchester United.

In a 3–1 win over Derby County in the quarter-finals of the League Cup, Filipe Luz's only goal for the Blues came on December 16, 2014, a 25-yard free-kick. Azpilicueta, on the other hand, came from behind in the final of the competition, losing 2–0 against Tottenham Hotspur. Hazard was recalled as an after-time replacement in a 1–0 home win over Crystal Palace, which claimed the league's championship on May 3.

Filipe Luos was called up by Brazil for the first time on August 7th, 2009, after replacing injured Marcelo for a friendly against Estonia but not leaving the bench in the 1–0 away victory. On October 15, he made his debut in a 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Venezuela.

Filipe Lus was selected in the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup on home soil, but he did not appear in the team during the game. He was one of seven players selected for the 2014 World Cup but did not make the final cut.

Filipe Lus played the entire game against Argentina on October 11, 2014 in Beijing's Superclás de las Américas de a year. Marcelo played every minute of their campaign at the 2015 Copa América de Chile, which culminated in the quarter-finals, despite Marcelo's absence due to injury.
