On October 20, 2010, Chelsea Reserves Captain Borini scored five times to bring Chelsea Reserves back from 0–3 against West Bromwich Albion Reserves. Chelsea Reserves won the match 5–4.

Borini joined Swansea City on loan until the end of the 2010-11 season on March 17, 2011. Brendan Rodgers, his former Chelsea youth team boss, partnered him. Borini started his loan spell with the Swans by scoring a brace against Nottingham Forest. On April 9, 2011, he opened the scoring against Norwich City with a free kick in a match that the Swans went on to win 3–0. During the 4–1 loss to Burnley at Turf Moor, he scored once more during his Swans 2–1 loss to Burnley, earning another brace.

Borini confirmed on May 18th that he would not be returning to Chelsea at the end of his loan terms with Swansea. He said he would not make a decision on his future until after the Championship play-off final. Borini won the penalty, securing a 4–2 lead and a return to English football's top flight for the Swans.

Borini had signed a pre-contract contract with Parma in Emilia-Romagna, before he had joined Swansea on loan. Roma revealed on July 13 that it was €13.3 million including bonuses (equivalent to about £10.5 million). Borini suffered a dislocated shoulder after a collision with Swansea City's Kyle Bartley just eight minutes after being brought on as a replacement for Luis Suarez. Borini will be out for the remainder of the 2012–13 season, according to Brendan Rodgers' post-match analysis. In a 6–0 away victory over Newcastle United, he returned to the team on 27 April 2013, leaping off the bench in the 72nd minute for his first Premier League goal and Liverpool's fifth. BY DANIEL MATTHEWS: Experience taught Fabio Borini how to hatch a plan in case the ground ever shook under his feet. Once more. The striker says, 'Pack an emergency bag with everything you need.' To get out, keep it close to the door at night so you don't have to worry about what you're doing when you go out.' Don't lock the door.' It was a tactic adopted by Borini in Italy, where tremors terrorized his family for a week, if not more.' 'My wife was a little bit shaken,' he says. So he taught her about the bag and the lock. Borini continues, 'It's traumatic.' 'You only need to be prepared; there is nothing else you can do.'
