Ethan Suplee (born May 25, 1976) is an American film and television actor best known for his roles as Seth Ryan in American History X, Louie Lastik in Remember the Titans, Frankie in Boy Meets World, Toby in My Name Is Earl, Toby in Without a Paddle, Elwood's Without a Paddle, and his appearances in Kevin Smith's Without a Paddle.
Early life
Suplee was born in Manhattan and Bill Suplee's uncle (who later played Willie the One Eyed Mailman in My Name Is Earl). His parents were actors who appeared in summer stock theater and on Broadway. Ethan said on the You Welcome show that he dropped out of school at age 14.
Personal life
Suplee lost over 200 pounds in body weight in March 2011. "I ride road bikes, I ride bicycles," he said of cycling for his fitness frame. He once had an all-time low of 9% body fat, but decided that his weight had been a long source of acting opportunities. Suplee is also a good friend of Stza of Star Fucking Hipsters, and he has agreed to appear in their music video for the song "3000 Miles Away" from their album "Never Rest in Peace. He is a Scientologist. He has been married to Brandy Lewis, the younger sister of actress and singer Juliette Lewis, since 2006.
Career
Suplee's first big role was as Willam in Mallrats, directed by Kevin Smith, alongside future My Name is Earl costar Jason Lee. He also appeared in the independent Kevin Smith View-Askew produced Drawing Flies for a short time. In later films Chasing Amy and Dogma, Smith starred both Suplee and Lee. In Clerks II, the two species make cameos. Suplee appeared in Boy Meets World from 1994 to 1998, as well as the filming of Mallrats. Suplee's spectacular appearances include performances by the ruthless white power skinhead Seth in American History X, one of three men who assaulted a clown in Vulgar, Ashton Kutcher's first heroin-dealing buddy Tuna, and the simpleminded Pangle in Cold Mountain, among Johnny Depp's Vulgar, Ashton Kutcher's goth college roommate "Thumper" in The Butterfly Effect, Johnny Depp's In addition, Suplee appeared in the HBO television series Entourage in the fictional film Queens Boulevard.
