She began modeling, but she did not do well.

McNaught obtained more modeling roles and television positions after her involvement in the campaign.

She began taking acting lessons and landed a spot in the soap opera Neighbours, portraying Sienna Cammeniti.

She appeared on MTV in 2010 and fronted their MTV Hits Weekly Hot30 Countdown program.

Early life

McNaught was born in Canberra, Australia's capital city. She is the niece and granddaughter of Andy McNaught and Lindy McNaught. McNaught's parents made a point of promoting healthy eating, and she learned a passion for cooking from them. She grew up with her older brothers. During the 1990s, McNaught and her family spent time in Seattle. She later formed "Short Straw," a band in which she played bass guitar and backing vocals. The group has gained gigs in Brisbane. She had thirteen piercings and black hair. McNaught referred to this period in her life as a "phase."

Personal life

McNaught formed a friendship with professional rugby league player Braith Anasta in early 2007. McNaught didn't have much time to spend with Anasta, which caused her to leave while filming on Neighbours. She had a two-year relationship with Nathan Jolliffe after her separation from Anasta. Erin McNaught Career

Career

Miss Australia was titled Miss Australia in 2006, but topless photos of her has surfaced, and event co-ordinator Deborah Miller ordered that McNaught retain the honour. Later, it was decided that she should keep the title. In the Miss Universe 2006 competition, she was chosen from nineteen finalists to represent Australia. She had clothes made by Australian designers Wayne Cooper, Jayson Brunsdon, and Eliza Joy. However, McNaught caused more scandal because she did not have enough outfits to attend the formal event. She created a video diary of her experience with Nine Network's topical show A Current Affair. McNaught did not do well in the competition and did not make it to the final 20. McNaught later competed in the Wintergarden Spring Summer Gala in Brisbane, Queensland. In addition, she began negotiating modelling and television contracts.

McNaught was announced in December 2006 that it had won a speaking role on Cybershack, a consumer electronics research program. McNaught began working on the series in February 2007; she believed she was able to cope with "gadgets" because she grew up with older brothers "doing traditional boys stuff." McNaught was already booked for several special occasions by this time.

McNaught began taking acting lessons at the Actors Centre in Surry Hills and was mentored by Simon Hunt. In August 2007, she travelled to Melbourne to take a screen test for casting directors of the soap opera Neighbours. It was revealed in November 2007 that she had been given a part in the role Sienna Cammeniti. Her appearance was part of a campaign to raise the show's ratings in Australia. She was "nervous" about attending the show because it was "a major change" to the kind of work she was used to doing. On December 17, she shot her first scenes. McNaught had impressed Neighbours' designers by March 2008, and her deal had been extended by three months. In July 2008, it was announced that she had decided to leave the series for the benefit of her friendship with Braith Anasta. McNaught said it had been a "tough decision to make" because she had a "wonderful career" in addition to being delighted with her acting accomplishments. Hannah Davies of The Courier-Mail said the acting industry was "outraged" by McNaught's work, and that Neighbours were accused of selecting famous people for ratings.

McNaught then became an ambassador for REPLAY Faces 2008, an online talent search to find new models. She began the search for the right person and selected the winner. She has also been an ambassador for the charity Fashion Targets Breast Cancer campaign. McNaught has also appeared on two seasons of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour. McNaught severed the index finger on her right hand while shooting a story for Cybershack on November 24, 2009: she fell off a dirt bike she was riding and became trapped in the bike's spinning wheel. In emergency surgery, the injured finger was recovered. She co-hosted the MTV Hits Weekly Hot30 Countdown with Matty Acton in December 2010. McNaught told Kate Waterhouse of The Sun-Herald that she was happier on MTV because she could share the world her personality. She said that her participation in Miss Universe had "pigeonholed [her] as a pageant type," making her feel as though she had to act like a "good two-shoes." She also stated that she had aspirations to work in music journalism. McNaught appeared in Pepsi's commercial campaign and also served as a guest judge on Australia's Next Top Model.

McNaught was modelling for companies like Antz Pantz and Mambo as of 2011. Donna Duggan of News.com.au said she was "fortunate" because the contractors did coerce her into losing weight. Though she was happy with her body image, she revealed that she lost hope after starting modeling. McNaught, who was under pressure to be skinny, declared that her eating habits were "all over the place." McNaught appeared in season twelve of Dancing with the Stars in 2012 and was partnered with Gleb Savchenko. She was the first celebrity to be banned from the sport. On the front page of Maxim Australia's June 2012 issue, she was naked in honor of her thirtieth birthday.

McNaught's husband and guitarist Example Example's example performed "Erin" in May 2020. McNaught's voice is included in the album, and she appeared alongside her husband in the music video. McNaught will be featured on the Seven Network's reality show SAS Australia in October 2020.
