Erik King (born April 21, 1963) is an American actor best known for his portrayal of Sergeant James Doakes on Showtime's television series Dexter and as Moses Deyell on Oz.

Early life

The King, whose father was a policeman, attended The Duke Ellington High School of Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., and later Towson University, Baltimore, Maryland.

Career

In television shows such as Matlock, NYPD Blue, and JAG, the King had an early role. He appeared in the ABC police drama Sunset Beat for a short time in 1990. In HBO's television series Oz, Moses Deyell appeared as Moses Deyell. Malcolm In The Middle, Charmed, and CSI: Miami are among his episodic jobs. Travis Hayward appeared on The District as Travis Hayward, as well as CBS' Touched by an Angel.

King has appeared in a number of films, including the adventure film National Treasure and the horror film Desperate Measures.

With his role as James Doakes in the Showtime television series Dexter, the King's fame soared. He appeared in 24 episodes from the pilot to the last episode of Season 2 in 2007. He was nominated for his role as the show's principal antagonist.
